Job summary

Openchip & Software Technologies S.L. in Barcelona is seeking a Junior Security Software Engineer to design and implement security features across the software stack, from firmware to cloud runtimes.

You will work on secure boot, cryptography, and platform security while collaborating with firmware, OS, and middleware teams in a hybrid Barcelona-based role. The role emphasizes practical security expertise, teamwork, and opportunities to engage with the wider security community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 1-3 years in the field with security software experience.
• Solid knowledge of computer architecture and low-level development.
• Experience with cryptography and security features.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel internals and boot processes.
• Proficiency in C and Rust, and Git/Jira/CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security features across the software stack.
• Develop security features for hardware architectures (RISC-V).
• Implement secure boot, confidential computing, and cryptography.
• Define interfaces to expose security to applications and collaborate across teams.
• Contribute to code reviews, docs, and CI pipeline improvements.
