AECOM is seeking a Junior Engineer to join our Bridges and Structures team in Madrid. You will help design and analyze bridge and structural projects across international contexts, contributing from concept through detailed design.

The role offers exposure to large-scale transportation infrastructure, collaboration within multidisciplinary teams, and opportunities for professional development. Fluency in English and Spanish is required, with a path toward growth in a dynamic global firm.

Formación

• Master's degree in civil engineering; other engineering degrees will be considered.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, initiative and personal resilience.
• Good organization skills to meet strict timelines and adapt to different leadership styles.
• Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).
• Skilled in engineering software for structures will be considered favorable.

Responsabilidades

• Analysis and modeling: perform calculations for typical structural elements, apply load combinations, model and analyze structures using software.
• Deliverables and quality: prepare calculation reports, bill of quantities, sketches for drawing production; participate in peer reviews.
• Design and coordination: contribute to conceptual studies and preliminary/detailed design stages.
• Standards and constructability: apply international standards (AASHTO, AREMA, British Standards, Australian codes).
• Collaboration and digital efficiency: participate in technical meetings and improve efficiency through templates and basic scripts.

We are currently looking to hire a Junior Engineer who wants to develop her/his career designing Bridges and/or Structures, to join our busy and expanding experienced team.

Our Bridges and Structures team has a strong track record delivering structural bridge engineering designs in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Latin America and the Middle East. With us, you will be able to contribute and participate in iconic transportation infrastructure projects within a diverse and multicultural environment.

You will be involved in all phases of project development, from conceptual and feasibility studies to preliminary designs and detailed design engineering, covering a wide variety of bridge and structural projects. You will be part of large multidisciplinary teams serving both public and private clients, including major large-scale Design and Build projects.

Here is what you will do:

• Analysis and modeling: you will perform calculations for typical structural elements, applying load combinations according to each limit state, and performing basic checks. You will also model and analyze structures using specialized software, ensuring consistency between models and results.
• Deliverables and quality: you will help to prepare calculation reports, bill of quantities, sketches for drawing production, ensuring clarity and organization. You will carry out self-checks and participate in quality reviews (peer reviews) to enhance technical consistency and reduce rework.
• Design and coordination: you will contribute to conceptual studies, as well as in preliminary and detailed design stages.
• Standards and constructability: you will apply international standards (AASHTO, AREMA, British Standards, Australian codes). You will learn to incorporate a design for constructability approach, considering construction stages, site access, and project constraints.
• Collaboration and digital efficiency: you will participate in technical meetings to validate assumptions and understand constraints. You will contribute to digital efficiency through templates, parameterization, and task automation (spreadsheets and basic scripts).

Qualifications

• Master's degree in civil engineering from a recognized University is a plus. Other engineering degrees will be considered.
