Óscala is launching a delivery centre in Valencia and seeks an IT Manager to own project delivery and work as the site deputy. The role spans project framing, delivery, and governance, with visibility to clients from day one. Generative AI features are integrated into the workflow, though hands-on AI work is not required.

The role can start as permanent or freelance, with a potential permanent contract after a few months. Based in Valencia with some travel to Paris.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's level in engineering, project management, computer science or equivalent.
• 5 to 15 years in IT project management, product ownership or business analysis, ideally a mix of the three.
• French is required. English is required. Spanish is not required.

About the role

We’re opening a delivery centre in Valencia. We are looking for an IT Manager to take operational ownership of the projects delivered there and to work as the direct deputy of the person running the site.

This is a launch role. The centre is being set up now, the team is being hired now, and the way it works has not been decided yet. Our site lead stays close to the clients and to business development. You take the operational side: framing the projects, running delivery, coordinating the teams, and helping build the structure as it grows. You will be introduced to clients as his counterpart, so the role is visible from day one. The scope is deliberately broad. It sits across project management, product ownership and business analysis, and the balance shifts from one project to the next. Generative AI is a real part of how they works.

The role does not require deep technical AI expertise, no agent development, no RAG, no MCP. It requires genuine curiosity and handson practice with AI tools, enough to hold a conversation with the engineering teams, spot the use cases worth pursuing, and bring them into the product roadmap.

Contract type Permanent or freelance to start, depending on what suits you.

If starting freelance, permanent contract required after a few months.

Your responsibilities

1. Project framing Gather and formalize business requirements with stakeholders. Define scope, deliverables, milestones and success criteria. Write the requirement documents, functional specifications and technical specifications.
2. Product roadmap Build and prioritize the product roadmap against business value and technical constraints. Arbitrate between business needs, technical reality and deadlines. Own the timeline and keep stakeholders informed.
3. Technical delivery Write user stories, specifications and acceptance criteria. Prioritise and manage the backlog. Validate deliverables with both the technical and the business side. Coordinate across teams: development, design, data and external providers.
4. Budget Estimate and track project effort and budget. Report regularly to management and sponsors. Optimize the balance between internal resources and external providers.
5. Risk and trade-offs Identify and manage project risks. Arbitrate between technical constraints and business objectives. Escalate blockers to the right level at the right time.
6. Governance Run project committees and agile ceremonies, from sprint reviews through to planning sessions. Prepare progress reporting materials. Report to sponsors and management.
7. Stakeholder management Act as the interface between the creative, technical, business and client sides. Adapt your communication to each audience and manage expectations. Hold the position of facilitator and arbitrator between parties.
8. Team coordination Lead or coordinate technical teams, internal and external. Distribute workload, follow performance, keep the team engaged.
9. Quality and acceptance Define acceptance criteria. Validate that deliverables meet them before they go to production.
10. Release and post-launch Coordinate deployments and production releases. Track performance indicators after launch.
11. Methodology Work in Agile and Scrum, or in a V-cycle where the context calls for it. Adapt the methodological framework to the maturity of the organisation you are working with.
12. Bringing AI into the work Keep an active watch on generative AI tools and how they are actually being used. Identify where AI genuinely saves time in the product and project process, whether that is drafting specifications, generating summaries or automating repetitive work. Hold a credible conversation with the engineering teams on AI topics without needing to implement them yourself

Your profile

Education Bachelor's or Master's level in engineering, project management, computer science or equivalent.

Experience 5 to 15 years in IT project management, product ownership or business analysis, ideally a mix of the three.

Languages

• French is required. Several of our clients work in French and you’re working closely with the president and director.
• English is required. The engineering team works in English.
• Spanish is not required.

Location

• Based in Valencia, or ready to relocate there. This role is not open to full remote. Proximity matters more here than in any other role in the team, because the job is built around working side by side with the site lead.
• Trips to Paris every month needed to visit the rest of the team there.
