Codeway in Barcelona is seeking an HR Business Partner to partner with Vertical CEOs and leaders across our AI-native scale-up. You will coach managers, shape people strategy, and lead compensation decisions in a cross-cultural, international environment.

Position

Codeway's People team in Barcelona has strong operational foundations in place. What we're building now is the strategic layer - someone who partners closely with leaders, brings fresh thinking to people's problems, and is genuinely curious about what AI means for the future of HR. You'll work alongside our HR Lead and partner directly with leaders in one of our business verticals. They're talented, ambitious, and growing fast - and they need a thought partner who can coach them, challenge their thinking, and help them become better people managers. Someone who comfortably manages processes with a strong focus on outcomes. We're also an AI-native company, and we want that to show up in how our People function works too. If you're already thinking about what AI means for HR - not theoretically but practically - this is a good fit. This is a role based in our new Barcelona HQ, working directly with the Vertical CEO and business leaders, while staying closely connected with our Istanbul office and teams to ensure strong alignment across locations.

What You'll Do

• Partner with business leaders on people management. Run training for first-time managers, provide coaching, and be the business partner leaders come to when things get complicated. You help people think through problems - you don't just hand them answers.
• Hold your own in hard conversations. You can push back, challenge constructively, and advocate for the right outcome. Stakeholders here are confident and talented. You build credibility by being consistently right, not by being agreeable.
• Own the full employee lifecycle. Including sensitive processes like terminations, handled with care, consistency, and legal grounding.
• Lead on compensation and benefits. Benchmarking, internal equity, and helping managers make sound, consistent decisions. You're comfortable with the numbers and present with confidence in the room when conversations get difficult.
• Bring AI-forward thinking into your work. Codeway is an AI-native company. You're already thinking about how technology is changing HR and you actively bring that perspective into how you work - not just in theory.
• Take ownership of strategic projects. From brainstorming through to delivery, you take a workstream and see it through. You're a reliable execution partner, not just a contributor.
• Communicate people initiatives clearly. Comfortable presenting, facilitating workshops, and landing messages across different audiences and seniority levels.
• Navigate a cross-cultural environment. Codeway has a genuinely international team. You'll build trust across people with different working styles, communication norms, and expectations of good management - adapting your approach without losing your point of view.
• Challenge conventional HR thinking. You bring perspectives we haven't considered yet. You question how things are done, bring ideas from outside the function, and push the team to think differently about people practice.

What You'll Bring

• Startup or scale-up experience. 3+ years as an HRBP or HR generalist in a fast-moving environment. You're comfortable with ambiguity and know how to prioritise without being told.
• Stakeholder credibility. You can influence, challenge, and build trust with confident, talented people who are still growing as leaders.
• Coaching instinct. You help people arrive at better thinking. You ask the right questions before offering answers.
• Compensation and benefits depth. Hands-on experience with benchmarking and the conversations that come with it.
• AI curiosity. You're actively exploring how new tools and approaches can make people practices smarter. It's part of how you work, not a talking point.
• Communication range. Clear and adaptable across different levels, cultures, and contexts - whether you're presenting to a leadership team or sitting with someone in a difficult moment.
• English fluency is required. Spanish and/or Turkish are a plus given where we operate but not essential for the role.
• Based in Barcelona or happy to relocate.
• Tech environment. Experience working alongside engineering or technical teams is a strong plus.
