Amentum seeks a Grounds Equipment Operator to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will operate tugs, forklifts, loaders and other GSE, perform inspections and basic maintenance, and transport materials across designated areas.

The role requires 1–3 years of GSE experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain visas and medical clearances for deployment to a remote overseas site. English proficiency is essential for contract compliance and safety procedures.

Responsabilidades

  • Report malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
  • Support general facilities, logistics and operational tasks as assigned.

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Grounds Equipment Operator to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate ground support equipment (GSE) including tugs, forklifts, loaders, power units, and other mission‑support machinery.
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on assigned equipment.
  • Safely transport materials, cargo, tools, and mission‑essential supplies across designated work areas.
  • Support aircraft ground operations by positioning, staging, and operating equipment as directed.
  • Maintain accurate equipment usage logs, inspection records, and operational documentation.
  • Assist with loading and offloading materials, pallets, and containers.
  • Ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with Navy, Amentum, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Support general facilities, logistics, and operational tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • 1–3 years of experience operating ground support equipment, heavy machinery, or similar equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
  • Ability to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi‑national workforce.
  • Experience operating tugs, forklifts, loaders, or aviation ground support equipment.
  • Strong understanding of equipment safety, preventive maintenance, and operational best practices.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Working Environment: This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
  • Physical Requirements: Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
