Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine in Madrid offers a one-year internship for students pursuing a Master’s degree in political science, public policy or related fields. The role supports the Government Affairs Policy team, gaining exposure to healthcare policy and EU affairs.

You will assist with briefing materials, stakeholder maps, meeting summaries and reports, participate in meetings with industry associations and public administrations, and help monitor regulatory developments.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Political Science, Government Affairs, European Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, or Law.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid foundation in project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency with modern workplace technologies and collaboration tools.
  • Proficient level of English.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Government Affairs Policy team in monitoring and analysing healthcare, pharmaceutical, innovation and regulatory policy developments at Spanish and European level.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing materials, stakeholder maps, meeting summaries, presentations and reports for internal and external engagements.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of legislative and policy initiatives with potential impact on the healthcare sector and Johnson Johnson Innovative Medicine.
  • Provide support in the organization and coordination of meetings, events and interactions with industry associations, public administrations, policymakers, patient organizations and other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Assist in researching and compiling information related to healthcare systems, access to innovation, competitiveness, sustainability and public policy priorities.
  • Learn about healthcare policy, public affairs, regulatory environment and advocacy activities within the pharmaceutical industry, gaining exposure to cross-functional collaboration with medical, regulatory, market access, communications and commercial teams.
  • Support the preparation of internal communications and policy updates to help raise awareness of relevant healthcare policy developments across the organization.
  • Participate in team projects and day-to-day activities under supervision, developing analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Report all suspected adverse reactions within 24 hours and communicate to Pharmacovigilance.

What you will do
  • Support the Government Affairs Policy team, under appropriate supervision, in monitoring and analysing healthcare, pharmaceutical, innovation and regulatory policy developments at Spanish and European level.
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing materials, stakeholder maps, meeting summaries, presentations and reports for internal and external engagements, receiving guidance from team members as part of their professional development.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of legislative and policy initiatives with potential impact on the healthcare sector and Johnson Johnson Innovative Medicine, under the supervision of the Government Affairs Policy team.
  • Provide support in the organization and coordination of meetings, events and interactions with industry associations, public administrations, policymakers, patient organizations and other healthcare stakeholders.
  • Assist in researching and compiling information related to healthcare systems, access to innovation, competitiveness, sustainability and public policy priorities, while developing an understanding of the healthcare policy environment.
  • Learn about healthcare policy, public affairs, regulatory environment and advocacy activities within the pharmaceutical industry, gaining exposure to cross-functional collaboration with medical, regulatory, market access, communications and commercial teams.
  • Support the preparation of internal communications and policy updates to help raise awareness of relevant healthcare policy developments across the organization.
  • Participate in team projects and day-to-day activities under supervision, developing analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills in a professional environment.
  • Report all suspected adverse reactions, serious or non-serious, I may be aware of within a maximum of 24 hours after becoming aware of them and communicate them to the Pharmacovigilance Department.
Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Political Science, Government Affairs, European Studies, International Relations, Public Policy, Law (with a focus on international or public affairs), or a related field.
  • Strong interest and understanding of politics, European Union affairs, public policy, and regulatory topics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency, accountability, and reliability in delivering high-quality work.
  • Solid foundation in project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency with modern workplace technologies and collaboration tools.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts, adapt to changing priorities, and take on new challenges.
