The diverse teams work on creative and innovative surface solutions that enable customers to make fantastic products. Stahl coatings are found on everyday materials in the automotive, luxury goods, packaging, apparel, and home furniture market, among others. Through their continuous focus on innovation and improving the environmental footprint, their unique service model and premium solutions add value to various industries.

Working at Stahl means being part of a versatile, ambitious team that is committed to working on innovative, high-quality coating solutions for their customers while making the world a better place. You will also be joining a diverse global community: headquartered in Waalwijk, the Netherlands, Stahl operates a global network of 16 production sites and 38 application laboratories, supported by sales offices across 25+ countries.

Your Role

As the Global Information Security Officer (CISO), you will serve as a critical member of Stahl's IT management team, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and maintaining a dual reporting line to Stahl leadership and its shareholder.

This is a business-oriented and managerial role, focused on strategy, communication, and execution rather than technical specialization. You will oversee a team of two security officers and collaborate closely with stakeholders across all business functions, ensuring compliance, risk management, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Your role extends beyond IT, including oversight of cybersecurity in industrial automation and operational technology (OT) environments, making industry experience highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership & Policy Development
    • Develop, implement, and maintain Stahl’s global cybersecurity policies in partnership with Stahl leadership and other stakeholders.
    • Align cybersecurity initiatives with business objectives and ensure compliance with global frameworks such as NIS and CMM.
    • Collaborate with the executive team and shareholder to build and maintain a robust digital safety strategy and culture.
  2. Team Management & Operations Oversight
    • Lead a dedicated security team of two security officers, fostering a high-performance culture.
    • Oversee the Security Operations Center (SOC) and manage incident response efforts to ensure swift and effective resolution of security issues.
    • Provide clear, actionable reporting to various stakeholder levels, including executives, operational teams, and the shareholder.
    • Ensure Stahl’s cybersecurity maturity levels meet or exceed compliance standards such as NIS and CMM.
    • Perform regular assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement risk mitigation strategies across IT and OT domains.
    • Monitor and adapt to the latest developments in cybersecurity and compliance, ensuring the organization stays ahead of emerging threats.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
    • Act as a liaison between the cybersecurity function and all business units, fostering organization-wide understanding and support for security initiatives.
    • Communicate complex security topics in a clear and relatable manner, enabling actionable agendas across the organization.
    • Build consensus and drive alignment for cybersecurity strategies across diverse teams and leadership levels.
    • Oversee the execution of a diverse portfolio of security projects, ensuring timely delivery and measurable impact.
    • Adopt a hands-on approach when needed to resolve challenges and maintain momentum on key initiatives.
    • Promote a "can-do" culture within the security team and broader organization.

Profile

Experience & Expertise

  1. Demonstrated experience in a senior cybersecurity leadership role, preferably as a CISO or similar position.
  2. Industry background in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred, with exposure to operational technology (OT) security.
  3. Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage cross-functional collaboration at all levels of an organization.

Skills & Attributes

  1. Deep interest in cybersecurity and compliance topics, with a commitment to staying informed about the latest developments.
  2. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex cybersecurity concepts for a wide range of stakeholders.
  3. Strategic thinker and team player, with a strong "can-do" mentality and hands-on execution capability when needed.
  4. Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages, such as Dutch, is advantageous.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor, master level in related field of study, or demonstrable business experience.
  2. Preferably certified as a CISO or willing to achieve certification.
  3. Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards, including NIS and CMM, is highly desirable.

The Offer

  1. A dynamic international work environment with a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
  2. The chance to work in a fast-growing medium-sized company with flat hierarchies and a great team.
  3. Annual salary between € 106.000 and € 120.817 including 8% holiday pay and fixed 13th month.
  4. 29 vacation days per year + option to buy 8 extra on a full-time basis.
  5. Hybrid / Smart working policy: 3 days at the office / 2 days from home.
  6. Personal budget for sustainable employability.
  7. Directly employed by Stahl in a permanent indefinite employment.
