Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of software projects, independently scoping problems and carrying solutions through design, implementation, testing, and rollout.
• Build and maintain accessible, performant, and well-tested components, themes, and frontend APIs used across Stripe.
• Build tooling, documentation, and automated quality checks that help engineers and AI coding agents use Sail effectively and meet Stripe’s UI quality bar.
• Partner with product designers and engineers to understand their needs and turn recurring UI patterns into reusable design-system capabilities.
• Help evolve the visual language of Stripe’s Dashboard while modernizing its underlying codebase and migrating legacy UI patterns.
• Improve the accessibility, internationalization, observability, performance, reliability, and developer experience of the design system.
• Contribute thoughtful code reviews, technical discussions, and documentation that improve the quality of the team’s work.

• Fluency in using AI-assisted and agentic development tools as part of day-to-day software engineering, including critically reviewing, validating, and improving generated code.
• 2+ years of professional frontend engineering experience, or equivalent practical experience, building, shipping, and debugging web applications.
• Strong knowledge of modern frontend technologies and frameworks, including browser fundamentals, responsive design, and accessibility.
• Ability to independently scope and deliver open-ended frontend projects, making practical technical and product tradeoffs with limited oversight.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with attention to testing, maintainability, and the quality of the resulting user experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, product engineers, and other partners.

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings (“OTE”) range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location.
