Afori, a Barcelona-based startup building AI for insurance brokers, seeks its first dedicated People & Operations hire to own recruiting, people ops, office management and finance ops as the company scales.

You’ll lead end-to-end recruiting, onboard and contract new hires, manage payroll inputs and benefits, design team processes, and spearhead opening the Barcelona office while building an AI-agent team. This is a founding role with broad impact across the organization.

Formación

• 2+ years in people ops, recruiting, or generalist operations.
• Startup experience strongly preferred; ideally you've been through zero-to-one phase.
• Hands-on owner: organized, reliable, discreet with sensitive information.
• Fluent in English; Spanish a strong plus, German a plus.

• Recruiting (your #1 priority): Own our hiring engine end-to-end: sourcing, pipeline, candidate experience, offers, closing.
• People Ops: Onboarding, contracts, payroll inputs and salary payouts, compensation, benefits, and HR compliance.
• Office: Lead the search for our new Barcelona office, run it day-to-day, greet new joiners and guests at the front desk.
• Finance Ops: Pay bills, chase and organize receipts, and be the main interface to our external bookkeeper.
• Build your AI agent team: Set up agents as your first hires to handle sourcing, screening, receipt-chasing, and recurring workflows.

About Afori

Our founders have previously built insurance unicorn wefox and are now building the AI layer for insurance brokers. Brokers spend more than 60% of their time on administrative back-office work, and we're changing that with AI agents that plug directly into their daily workflows. Today, we already save brokers more than 2.5 hours per day while improving service quality, so customers get the best advice. We help brokers turn that freed-up time into relevant consultation opportunities, making sure customers have the right coverage and brokers grow their revenue. Founded in 2025, we launched with a €4M pre-seed led by General Catalyst, backed by industry leaders and AI pioneers including Mustafa Suleyman (CEO, Microsoft AI) and Alex Rinke (Co-CEO, Celonis).

Your Impact

You'll be our first dedicated People & Operations hire, a true founding role. You own everything from the first recruiting touchpoint to the moment someone walks into our (new!) office, plus day-to-day finance operations. Your main focus: people and recruiting.

What You'll Do:

• Office: Lead the search for our new Barcelona office (one of your first projects), run it day-to-day, and greet new joiners and guests at the front desk as the face of Afori.
• Finance Ops: Pay bills, chase and organize receipts, and be the main interface to our external bookkeeper.
• Build your AI agent team: Set up agents as your first "hires" to handle sourcing, screening, receipt-chasing, and recurring workflows. We build agents for our customers and run on them ourselves.

Who You Are:

• 2+ years in people ops, recruiting, or generalist operations.
• Startup experience strongly preferred. Ideally you've been through the zero-to-one phase before: joining a company early, building processes from scratch, and figuring things out without a playbook.
• A hands-on owner: organized, reliable, and discreet with sensitive information.
• Warm and people-first: a recruiter at heart and the first face many people see.
• Comfortable with numbers and financial admin (no accounting degree needed).
• Excited to work AI-native and build your own agent team.
• Fluent in English; Spanish a strong plus, German a plus.
