We are seeking a Financial Regulatory Data Scientist with deep domain knowledge of European financial regulations such as PRIIPs, Solvency II, AIFMD, SFDR, UCITS, and other ESG and risk-related frameworks. This individual will play a pivotal role in translating regulatory requirements into robust data models and analytics, supporting our clients in understanding, complying with, and optimizing their regulatory reporting and disclosures.
- You will be responsible for interpreting new and evolving financial regulations, developing data-driven solutions, and advising clients on technical and strategic questions related to compliance, reporting automation, and impact analysis.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Financial Regulatory Data Scientist with deep domain knowledge of European financial regulations such as PRIIPs, Solvency II, AIFMD, SFDR, UCITS, and other ESG and risk-related frameworks. This individual will play a pivotal role in translating regulatory requirements into robust data models and analytics, supporting our clients in understanding, complying with, and optimizing their regulatory reporting and disclosures.
- You will be responsible for interpreting new and evolving financial regulations, developing data-driven solutions, and advising clients on technical and strategic questions related to compliance, reporting automation, and impact analysis.
Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Expertise & Advisory- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on financial regulations including PRIIPs KID, Solvency II QRTs, AIFMD Annex IV, SFDR PAI indicators, and other regulatory standards.
- Monitor changes in the regulatory landscape (EIOPA, ESMA, ECB, EU Taxonomy, etc.) and proactively assess their data implications.
- Provide timely responses to client inquiries regarding regulatory interpretation, data requirements, and implementation best practices.
- Translate complex regulatory language into actionable, technical documentation and data models.
Data Science & Technical Implementation- Develop scalable data pipelines, transformations, and analytics models that support regulatory reporting.
- Design and maintain structured data models for KID generation, SCR calculations, SFDR PAI indicator aggregation, etc.
- Build APIs and integration layers with client systems and regulatory platforms (e.g., EIOPA, ESMA portals).
Client Support & Collaboration- Work closely with client risk, compliance, and IT teams to implement solutions that meet both regulatory and business needs.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and conduct workshops or training sessions for end-users.
- Collaborate with internal product, legal, and technology teams to enhance the firm’s regulatory solutions platform.
Required QualificationsRegulatory Knowledge- In-depth understanding of at least three of the following: PRIIPs, Solvency II, AIFMD, SFDR, UCITS, MiFID II, EMIR, EU Taxonomy.
- Familiarity with regulatory templates (EIOPA QRTs, Annex IV, EMT/EPT, ESG templates) and their data models.
Technical Skills- Programming: Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), SQL, R optional.
- Data Tools: Power BI, Tableau, Excel PowerQuery; familiarity with Dataverse or Azure Data Factory is a plus.
- API/Data Integration: Experience with REST APIs, JSON/XML formats, and integration tools.
- Data Modeling: Proven experience designing relational data schemas aligned with regulatory reporting needs.
Other Skills- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to simplify and explain technical and regulatory concepts to business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CAMS) or regulatory diplomas (e.g., EFFAS ESG Analyst).
- Experience working in regulatory compliance for financial services, asset management, or insurance sectors.
