Paradox Interactive in Sitges, Spain, is seeking an experienced QA lead for Europa Universalis V. You will elevate testing across a live game with a small internal QA team and an external partner.

You will mentor analysts, drive automation, and set up dashboards to convey testing status clearly. This role focuses on process improvement, risk-based decisions, and data-driven QA across updates.

Formación

• 5+ years in games QA, including at least one shipped or live title.
• Hands-on experience with test automation, or a track record of making manual testing less manual.
• Experience working with an external QA partner or outsourced test team.
• A history of improving QA processes, workflows or tooling relevant to testing.
• Risk-based judgment and the ability to own critical calls under constraints.
• Practical use of AI tools in QA or solid prompting fundamentals.
• Fluency with Jira or equivalent, and clear, direct communication in English.

Join our QA team on Europa Universalis V.

We are a small internal QA team working on a live grand strategy game, together with an external QA partner and the developers who build what we test. We are looking for someone experienced to help us raise the bar. Not to take testing off everyone's plate, but to make the whole team better at it.

We care a lot about how testing gets done. Test automation, smart triage, dashboards that tell you the truth about a build, and AI in the parts of the workflow where it actually helps. If you enjoy finding the leverage in a process and automating what should not be manual, this is a good place for that.

And you will still test the game. Here the experienced people test, plan and decide. Judgment and hands-on work go together.

What you will do

• Grow our test automation, and push regression coverage further with every update.

• Build faster, smarter triage: cut the noise, get the right bugs in front of the right people sooner, and use AI where it earns its place.

• Build the dashboards and quality tracking that let anyone see the state of testing from data rather than gut feeling.

• Shape the functional QA process with us: test planning, coverage, merge-list curation and backlog health across concurrent update branches.

• Work closely with our external QA partner so that everyone is testing from a clear, prioritised queue.

• Represent QA in sign-offs and milestone decisions, arguing severity by player impact rather than category.

• Mentor our analysts, onboard new joiners, and help the wider project understand how QA thinks.

What you will need

• 5+ years in games QA, including at least one shipped or live title.

• Hands-on experience with test automation, or a real track record of making manual testing less manual.

• Experience working with an external QA partner or outsourced test team.

• A history of improving process. There is a testing practice, tool or workflow that exists, or was killed, because of you.

• Risk-based judgment: you prioritise under real constraints and own the call.

• Practical use of AI tools in QA, or solid prompting fundamentals and a genuine appetite to build with them.

• Fluency with Jira or equivalent, and clear, direct communication in English.

Things to elevate your application

• Paradox grand strategy experience, Europa Universalis especially. Genuine interest in the genre matters more than logged hours.

• Scripting or programming (Paradox script, Python, C++), or hands-on QA automation frameworks.

• Experience on a live title with a recurring update cadence.

• Localisation QA experience, or working across a multi-language build.

The Studio

Paradox Tinto was founded in 2020 by a small and dedicated team of industry veterans led by Johan Andersson, and building on our experience from Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studio, we develop Europa Universalis V, the latest entry in the grand strategy franchise that started it all more than twenty-five years ago.

The Location

Our office is 300m from one of the beaches of Sitges, a picturesque Mediterranean coastal city. It is well connected by public transport and within walking distance of restaurants, bars, pharmacies, supermarkets, shops and hotels.
Sitges is barely 20 minutes by car or bus from El Prat, Barcelona’s international airport. It offers 17 beaches along its own coastline, the Costa del Garraf, and an average of 300 days of sun a year, which is hard to argue with for outdoor sports and weekends. Mountain lovers still have the Pyrenees, only a two hour drive away. The town will also captivate you with its cultural events, Mediterranean food and, of course, excellent Spanish wine.
