PLC Technician – Industry 4.0 Digital Transformation - 100% remote

At Savages Corp Limited, we enable manufacturers to thrive in the era of Industry 4.0 by combining cutting‑edge technology with deep compliance expertise. Our platforms and services help manufacturing enterprises harness the power of data intelligence, automation, and connected systems to drive smarter decision‑making, optimize operations, and accelerate digital transformation. We ensure end‑to‑end compliance and data protection through robust infrastructure solutions, while streamlining regulatory and operational processes to reduce risk and increase efficiency. Beyond compliance, we design and deliver scalable applications and advanced analytics that empower factories, supply chains, and production environments to become more intelligent, adaptive, and resilient.

We are seeking a freelance full‑time PLC Technician to support the integration of factory automation systems into our Industry 4.0 data ecosystem. This role bridges operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) – connecting PLCs, sensors, and machine data with cloud‑based analytics and AI environments. You will work closely with our Technical Product Lead, Program Lead, and Data Engineering teams to implement and validate reliable industrial data connections that enable predictive insights and operational visibility across production systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC systems and related industrial control equipment across multiple production environments.
  • Connect PLCs, SCADA, and MES systems to cloud and data platforms using Industry 4.0 communication standards (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, etc.).
  • Collaborate with engineers and developers to ensure seamless data flow from shop‑floor devices to data warehouses and analytics tools.
  • Support the design and implementation of machine data collection pipelines, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
  • Participate in the development of proof‑of‑concept integrations for new manufacturing data use cases.
  • Monitor and optimize PLC logic and communication performance to support AI and predictive maintenance models.
  • Document system configurations, data mappings, and procedures for ongoing operations and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, or industrial automation.
  • Hands‑on experience with major PLC platforms (GE SPS, Siemens, Allen‑Bradley GE, or similar).
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, MQTT, etc.).
  • Familiarity with AWS services or cloud‑based data integrations for Industry 4.0 is a strong advantage.
  • Understanding of SQL, or time‑series databases for storing and querying machine data is a plus.
  • Basic experience with scripting or automation (Python, Bash, Node‑Red) for connectivity or diagnostics.

You will have the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge Industry 4.0 projects transforming modern manufacturing. Fully remote work with flexible hours and regular site visits to industrial facilities. Collaboration with experts in data, AI, and automation across disciplines. A role that directly contributes to bridging the gap between machines, data, and decision‑making.
