Sopra Steria in Barcelona is seeking a Senior DevOps Governance & Platform Engineering Lead to provide governance, oversight and strategic leadership to an established DevOps team.

The role blends 65% management/governance and 35% technical oversight, focusing on KPI reporting, platform standardization, risk management and enabling CI/CD, observability, security and API governance across AWS and related technologies.

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Governance & Platform Engineering Lead to provide structured leadership, governance, and operational oversight to an already high-performing DevOps team.

The existing DevOps team delivers proficiently and autonomously across CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, container platforms, and observability. However, the organization requires a senior layer responsible for:

• Governance and standardization
• Reporting and KPI management
• Platform lifecycle oversight
• Risk management and compliance alignment
• Strategic DevOps roadmap evolution

This role is 65% management / governance and 35% technical oversight. While strong technical expertise is required for credibility and decision-making, this is not a hands-on coding position.

Key Responsibilities

1. DevOps Governance & Strategy (Primary Focus ~65%)

Define and enforce DevOps governance frameworks, standards, and operating models

Establish and track DevOps KPIs (deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR, change failure rate, platform reliability, etc.)

Create executive-level reporting dashboards and performance summaries

Drive platform standardization and architectural alignment

Ensure security, compliance, and quality controls are embedded in pipelines

Manage risk, capacity planning, and budget alignment

Oversee tool lifecycle management and vendor relationships

Coordinate DevOps activities across engineering, architecture, security, and operations

Lead continuous improvement initiatives across CI/CD and platform reliability

Act as the escalation and decision authority for DevOps-related governance matters

2. Technical Oversight & Enablement (~35%)

Provide architectural and technical oversight across:

CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks

Observability and performance monitoring

Artifact management and API governance

DevSecOps practices
