Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a senior Design Systems Designer to own how client design systems are built. You will extract patterns from brands and reference sites into a working system of tokens, variables, modes, and core components for a scalable build pipeline.

This is a senior, systems-first role—not one-off pages or maintenance. You will stand up new systems quickly and accurately across several client brands simultaneously, with precision and consistency.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants.
• A portfolio showing work that differs across clients but maintains the same rigorous system.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once, each looking distinctly different, with the same structural rigor.
