Job summary

Wärtsilä in Bermeo, Spain seeks a Deputy Laboratory Manager to lead the lab with a focus on safe, reliable testing and validation operations. You will translate priorities into clear plans and coordinate day-to-day execution with a multidisciplinary team.

You will support development of the laboratory personnel, drive governance, and step in for the Laboratory Manager as needed. Travel ~10% worldwide may be required.

Qualifications

• A university degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience leading teams and developing people.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Support the Laboratory Manager in setting objectives, planning activities and following up progress.
• Coordinate safe, reliable and efficient laboratory operations, including resources, facilities and budgets.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, technologies and ways of working; strengthen governance and performance.
• Build collaboration across RDE Testing & Validation, engineering, operations and other stakeholders.
• Support development and engagement of laboratory personnel and foster ownership and accountability.
• Act on behalf of the Laboratory Manager when delegated to ensure leadership continuity.
