Job summary

Symanto Research is seeking a Data Science Lead to translate strategic AI goals into tangible projects and oversee the design and deployment of scalable data science solutions. You will guide prototyping to production, align with business needs, and manage multi-disciplinary teams.

You will mentor DS engineers, collaborate with engineering and client teams, and ensure security policies and ISO/ISMS alignment across the department to support robust AI programs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in data science or related quantitative field.
• 6+ years in data science or applied ML with leadership experience.
• Client-facing experience in technically driven projects.
• Proven track record deploying data science products and scalable pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of supervised/unsupervised ML, NLP/LLM, fine tuning, RAG, AI agents.
• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps, cloud deployment and scalable data architectures.
• Proficiency in Python and DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, PEFT).
• Experience with API/web services development and databases.

Responsibilities

• Translate department strategy into actionable data science projects aligned with business needs.
• Oversee design and implementation of scalable AI and data science solutions from prototype to production.
• Manage project prioritization, resources, and timelines to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Provide architectural guidance for data science solutions, agentic AI platforms, models and data pipelines.
• Ensure smooth transitions of pipelines into production with engineering teams.
• Maintain robust monitoring, testing, and benchmarking to preserve model quality.
• Foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Mentor data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts in the department.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and clients.
• Coordinate with other departments to integrate DS initiatives into workflows.
• Ensure security policies, ISO certification and ISMS are supported within scope.

Your Profile

Education, Required Skills, and Experience

• M.Sc. in data science, machine learning, computational methods or similar quantitative field.
• 6+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with at least 2-3 years in leadership or team lead capacity.
• Client facing experience in technically driven project communications, acting as SME for AI and tech aspects of the client engagement
• Proven track record in building and deploying data science products, including model development, evaluation, full pipeline orchestration and scaling.
• Strong applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, NLP/LLM frameworks including fine tuning, RAG, and AI agent frameworks.
• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps practices, cloud deployment, scalable data architectures, LLM custom deployments and services.
• Proficiency in Python including core data science stack libraries and deep learning frameworks like pytorch, tensorflow, peft or others
• Working knowledge of API/web service development
• Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL/Vector databases.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• PhD in quantitative field
• Fluency in German or Arabic
• Experience in developing AI solutions for different business verticals
• Experience in building agentic solution platforms
• Experience building and integrating data science teams
• Experience in consumer psychology and behavioral drivers
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed computing frameworks e.g. PySpark.

• Provide strategical oversight and architectural guidance for data science solutions, agentic AI platforms, AI/ML models and data pipelines ensuring alignment with best practices and business objectives.
• Align with the engineering teams to facilitate smooth transitions of data science and AI pipelines into production ready systems
• Ensure robust monitoring, testing, and benchmarking processes are in place to maintain model quality and pipeline performance.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Mentor and support the professional growth of data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts in the department.
• Serve as the key bridge between leadership, clients, and technical teams, clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other departments to integrate data science initiatives into broader organizational workflows.
• Ensure that security policies, procedures, and standards within their area of responsibility are followed correctly and the ISO certification and ISMS is supported within the scope of the role
