Job summary

Camelina Company España is seeking a hands-on Data Platform & AI Engineer to own our Databricks environment and shape our data and AI capabilities. You will work end-to-end across ETL/ELT, streaming, ML models, and dashboards to empower smarter decision-making.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on data engineering experience, proficiency in Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, SQL, Python, and MLflow, with fluency in English and Spanish. Madrid-based with some travel to company sites.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, SQL and Python.
• Experience deploying machine learning models with MLflow or similar tools.
• Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

• Develop and deploy AI and ML solutions, including forecasting, anomaly detection, and LLM/RAG applications.

• Manage data quality, governance, security, performance, and platform costs.
• Collaborate with operational, financial, and commercial teams in Spain and the US to turn business needs into reliable data products.

Are you passionate about transforming data into real business impact? Camelina Company España is looking for a hands-on Data Platform & AI Engineer to take ownership of our Databricks environment and help shape the future of our data and AI capabilities.

In this key role, you’ll work across the full data lifecycle—from building scalable ETL/ELT and streaming pipelines to deploying machine learning models, developing AI-powered solutions, and creating dashboards that support smarter decision-making.

What you’ll do

• Build and optimize data pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, SQL, Delta Lake, Workflows, Auto Loader, and Delta Live Tables.
• Develop and deploy AI and machine learning solutions, including forecasting, anomaly detection, and LLM/RAG applications.
• Create impactful dashboards and reports with Databricks SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
• Manage data quality, governance, security, performance, and platform costs.
• Partner with operational, financial, and commercial teams in Spain and the United States to turn business needs into reliable data products.

What we’re looking for

• 3–5 years of hands-on data engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Databricks, Spark/PySpark, Delta Lake, SQL, and Python.
• Experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines from databases, APIs, files, and streaming sources.
• Experience deploying machine learning models with MLflow or similar tools.
• Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Experience with modern BI and reporting tools.
• Full professional fluency in English and Spanish.
• Availability for regular working-hour overlap with our Pacific Time team.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, CI/CD, Terraform, structured streaming, enterprise AI solutions, or the energy and industrial sectors will be highly valued.

This position is primarily office or home-office based in Madrid, with occasional travel to company sites, including Bakersfield, California.
