Job summary

Extia Group is seeking a Data Engineer in Madrid to guide data engineering across squads, ensuring robust pipelines and scalable data infrastructure. You will migrate legacy platforms to modern hubs and evolve data ecosystems with cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities include designing pipelines, collaborating with teams, maintaining data quality, and automating ingestion using Airflow as a Service. Strong French, Spark/Scala, Kafka, COS, SQL/NoSQL, CI/CD, Hadoop, and ELK experience are

Qualifications

  • Fluent in French (B2/C1) required.
  • Strong knowledge of Spark on Scala.
  • Experience with Kafka and event streams.
  • Proficiency with S3/Cloud Object Storage (COS) and Parquet format.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitLab, Jenkins).
  • Experience with Hadoop and shell scripting.
  • Familiarity with SDLC and Agile ceremonies.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana.
  • Use of GenAI tools for tests, docs and development improvements.
  • Familiarity with Vault (HVault).
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage Business/IT relations and IT Operations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure performance, security, data quality and integrity of data infrastructure.
  • Automate data pipelines and ingestion using orchestrators, primarily Airflow as a Service.
  • Design and implement scalable data processing with Scala, Spark and COS.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines for deployments and unit testing.
  • Write unit tests and validations; produce technical docs for knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and foster continuous improvement.

The role will involve guiding data engineering efforts across different squads, ensuring the robustness and scalability of data pipelines, following established guidelines and technologies, and contributing to projects focused on the creation of new subsidiary data hubs through migration from legacy platforms and their subsequent evolution.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–18:00
  • French B2/C1 – Mandatory

As a Data Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design, development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and systems according to established technologies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure the performance and security of the data infrastructure, as well as data quality and integrity.
  • Optimize data workflows to efficiently enrich and transform large volumes of data with complex business rules.
  • Automate data pipelines and streamline data ingestion through orchestrators and scheduling processes, mainly Airflow as a Service.
  • Design and implement scalable and secure data processing pipelines using Scala, Spark and Cloud Object Storage (COS).
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments, unit testing and development management.
  • Write and conduct unit and validation tests to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the developed code.
  • Write technical documentation, including specifications and operational documents, to ensure knowledge capitalization.
  • Support different teams in troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, systems and processes, ensuring it is accessible to team members.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on data initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
