Medibank is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect to shape a modern Databricks-based data platform for a multi-year data transformation program. You’ll partner with engineering, platform and delivery teams, delivering scalable, governed data products and enterprise-grade architecture.

You’ll bring hands-on Databricks experience in large enterprises, strong cloud data platform knowledge, and ability to bridge architecture with platform and engineering teams to deliver practical outcomes.

• Recent hands-on experience implementing or enabling a Databricks platform.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture patterns.
• Experience with data modelling, governance frameworks and platform standards.
• Experience working across infrastructure, networking, security and platform engineering teams.

As part of a significant multi-year data transformation program, we're looking for an experienced Data Solution Architect with strong Databricks platform enablement experience to help shape and establish the foundations of our next-generation data ecosystem. This role will kick off as an intial 12-month daily rate contract, with a rate of up to $1200 per day.

This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll partner closely with engineering, platform and delivery teams to design, implement and evolve a modern Databricks-based data platform that supports scalable, governed and reusable data products.

About the role

This isn't a strategy-only architecture position. We're looking for someone who has recently been involved in standing up or significantly evolving a Databricks platform, understands the challenges of implementing modern data capabilities in large enterprises, and can bridge architecture, platform and engineering teams to deliver practical outcomes.

You’ll play a key role in helping Medibank mature towards a data product operating model, establishing platform patterns, governance controls and engineering frameworks that enable teams to confidently build and consume trusted data.

What you’ll be doing

What you’ll bring

We’re particularly interested in people who have recent experience implementing or modernising a Databricks environment within a large enterprise.

• Significant experience in Data Architecture, Solution Architecture or Senior Data Engineering roles.
• Recent hands‑on experience implementing or enabling a Databricks platform.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture patterns.
• Experience with data modelling, governance frameworks and platform standards.
• Experience working across infrastructure, networking, security and platform engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to operate in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
