Role : Customer Activation Lead

As our first Customer Activation Lead hire, you’ll be the technical backbone of client integrations, ensuring Acoru’s platform is deployed seamlessly in complex financial and enterprise environments. This is a high‑impact, hands‑on role for someone who thrives in fast‑paced, early‑stage contexts and is excited to work directly with customers to bring integrations from zero to production.

You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Customer Operation to design and implement scalable deployments, optimize data flows, and ensure our platform is integrated with client systems reliably and securely.

This is a highly technical, client‑facing position: you’ll both roll up your sleeves to build pipelines, APIs, and Kubernetes deployments, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure long‑term adoption and scalability.

This role reports to the Director of Customer & Technical Operations and will collaborate closely with the Product and Engineering teams.

What you will do Backend Architecture & Development
  • Serve as the technical lead for client integrations, working hand‑in‑hand with customers’ IT and operations teams.
  • Own the full lifecycle of deployments, including architecture design, integration planning, and production rollout.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable integration workflows across cloud and on‑premise environments.
Data Systems & Storage
  • Communicate effectively with banks and financial institutions, using their business and technical language to align with industry standards.
  • Understand the domain‑specific challenges (e.g., regulatory requirements, security constraints, data governance) to guide integration strategies.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor for clients, ensuring their needs are met and anticipating potential blockers.
Technical Leadership
  • Build and maintain data pipelines using Apache NiFi or equivalent technologies.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance in data processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with client teams on data governance, compliance, and performance optimization.
Collaboration & Enablement
  • Lead deployments using Kubernetes, ensuring robust orchestration and automation.
  • Work across cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and hybrid environments.
  • Integrate APIs and databases (SQL and NoSQL) into client architectures.
Collaboration & Support
  • Act as the technical liaison between clients and internal teams, ensuring requirements are translated into effective solutions.
  • Document integration processes and provide knowledge transfer to clients and internal support teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during implementation and beyond.
What we’re looking for
  • 5+ years of experience in systems integration, solution engineering, or field engineering roles.
  • Deep understanding of the banking and financial services domain, including industry‑specific challenges such as regulatory compliance, data governance, and security constraints.
  • Proven track record working directly with banks or financial institutions, able to communicate fluently using their business and technical language.
  • Strong background in data pipeline technologies (preferably NiFi).
  • Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes deployments and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • COBOL experience strongly valued.
  • Solid understanding of APIs and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL).
  • EU‑based (Spain or Portugal strongly preferred), with availability to work directly with clients across regions.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills, able to work cross‑functionally with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites when needed.

  • Shape the core backend systems of one of Europe’s most promising startups.
  • Work on technically challenging problems at scale, with global impact.
