American Express in Madrid seeks a Compliance professional to support Financial Crimes Risk Management across regional teams. You will assist with issue remediation, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting, collaborating with the MLRO and audit functions to ensure timely and compliant outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in EU financial services compliance, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills in English. Hybrid/onsite work arrangements may be available.

Formación

  • University degree required; knowledge of payment services and AML/CTF regs is a plus.
  • 1–2 years of compliance-related work experience in an EU bank, financial institution or non-banking financial services industry.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to navigate multinational company processes and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Responsabilidades

Job Description

The Global Risk & Compliance (GRC) organization serves as American Express’ independent risk management function. GRC maintains the enterprise risk framework, provides oversight and challenge, and monitors key risks. By embedding risk discipline into strategy and operations, GRC enables responsible growth, innovation, and long-term value creation while protecting customers and shareholders.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with the coordination and execution of Financial Crimes Risk Management activities across regional market teams.

  • Supporting issue management activities, including tracking remediation plans, monitoring action progress, escalating delays, and ensuring timely closure of identified issues.

  • Support the issuance of the annual business-wide risk assessment, in line with Enterprise’s methodology, overseeing market deployment to ensure harmonization at Legal Entity / region level.

  • Support issuance of MLRO’s Annual Activity Report, in line with EBA guidelines on the role of the Compliance Officer.

  • Support issuance of the internal business control framework evaluation program.

  • Assist with Internal Audit, External Audit and Regulatory Examination activities by assisting requests, organizing documentation, tracking deliverables, and supporting remediation efforts.


Qualifications


  • University Degree in Law/Business Management/Political Science. Working knowledge of payment services and AML/CTF regulations will be a plus.

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of compliance related work experience in an EU bank, financial institution and/or non-banking financial services industry.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of company operating processes within a multinational company such as Amex is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Ability to build strong relationships with business partners, compliance stakeholders and other peers.

  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written is a must.

  • Problem solving and strategical mindset, good analytical skills.


Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Spain is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
