EPAM Systems in Málaga, Spain, seeks a Chief AI-Native Engineer to lead a next-generation AI-powered financial assistant platform in a hybrid setup. You will guide end-to-end delivery from system design to implementation in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.

You will collaborate with a small engineering team to design, build and optimize AI-driven solutions for financial workflows, using Python/FastAPI, AWS, Kubernetes and React-based frontend components.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Proficiency in Python and readiness to learn Python quickly if needed.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI or similar Python-based frameworks.
• Expertise in cloud infra (AWS), Kubernetes, and Terraform for IaC.
• Ability to work in a startup-like environment with ownership and autonomy.
• Strong requirements gathering, architectural design, and solution delivery skills.
• Familiarity with TypeScript/JavaScript and React/Next.js for frontend work.
• Knowledge of AI-assisted programming tools and modern engineering practices.
• Commitment to code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.
• Fluent English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy AI-driven features for a financial assistant platform.
• Architect and implement backend components and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Maintain scalable systems with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform for automation.
• Collaborate on frontend work using React (TypeScript) and AI-driven UI components.
• Apply AI-assisted programming approaches and modern engineering practices.
• Gather requirements from high-level definitions and perform system design.
• Iterate product capabilities in an agile, lean setup with peers.
• Ensure automated testing, reliability and best practices across the lifecycle.
