The British School of Almería invites applications for a dynamic Business and Mathematics Teacher. The post involves delivering Business and Mathematics in English across the Secondary School, preparing students for IGCSE and A Level exams, and promoting analytical thinking, financial literacy and independent learning.

Applicants should hold a recognised teaching qualification and a degree in Mathematics or Business, with experience teaching in English in a secondary setting.

The British School of Almería is seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspirational and highly motivated Business and Mathematics Teacher.

The successful candidate will teach both subjects in English, following the British education system. The post holder will have strong subject knowledge, a genuine enthusiasm for Business and Mathematics, and experience of preparing pupils for IGCSE and A Level examinations. They will plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive lessons; promote analytical, problem-solving, financial literacy and independent-learning skills; and support every pupil to achieve their individual potential.

Role-Specific Duties

• Teach Business and Mathematics in English throughout the Secondary School (Key Stages 3–5), including IGCSE and A Level where required.
• Plan coherent schemes of learning that align with the British education system, relevant examination specifications and school policies.
• Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons that develop mathematical fluency, reasoning, problem solving, commercial awareness, enterprise and analytical thinking.
• Prepare pupils effectively for external examinations, including IGCSE, AS and A Level, as applicable.
• Promote Business and Mathematics through curricular, cross-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including enrichment, competitions, enterprise initiatives or revision support.
• Create a stimulating, inclusive and well-resourced learning environment, making appropriate use of digital and technological resources.
• Monitor pupil progress, identify gaps in learning and implement appropriate intervention and challenge.
• Contribute actively to the development and improvement of the Business and Mathematics departments and their examination outcomes.
• Support colleagues, where appropriate, with subject-specific knowledge, resources and effective teaching approaches.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd or equivalent) and Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
• A degree in Mathematics, Business, Economics, a related discipline, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Demonstrable experience teaching both Business and Mathematics in English within a secondary-school setting.
• Thorough knowledge of the British education system across Key Stages 3–5.
• Experience of preparing pupils for IGCSE and/or A Level examinations in Business and Mathematics.
• Excellent spoken and written English.
• Fluent Spanish
• A strong understanding of assessment, data analysis, differentiation and inclusive classroom practice.
• A willingness to be flexible and responsive to the evolving needs of the school and its pupils.
• Enthusiasm and commitment to the successful development of Business and Mathematics.
• Experience teaching international cohorts and/or within an international school.
• Experience with relevant British examination boards.
• Experience delivering enrichment activities related to enterprise, finance, numeracy or problem solving.
