MEDSIR, based in Barcelona, seeks a Data Science Trainee to support data management in our Scientific Department. You will collaborate with team members to contribute to oncological clinical research and learn data analysis workflows.

This trainee role emphasizes data collection, cleaning, analysis, and reporting while ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance. Fluency in English and an academic affiliation are required. Hybrid work and growth opportunities are available.

Formación

  • Data science or life sciences background strongly preferred.
  • Signed agreement with your academic centre is mandatory.
  • Experience with data management and clinical research preferred.

Responsabilidades

  • Gather and compile data from clinical trials, research studies, or healthcare databases.
  • Clean and preprocess raw data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist in statistical analysis and data modeling to extract insights using R/Python or analytics software.
  • Help create reports and dashboards to visualize findings for stakeholders.
  • Ensure data quality by performing validation checks and quality assessments.
  • Maintain detailed records of data sources, transformations, and analysis methods.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

A Data Science Trainee, in our Scientific Department, will report to our Data Science Lead. In this position it is expected to collaborate with our Data Science team providing support in data management. The position works in a cross-functional way with other members of the Scientific Department and the rest of the Company, providing a global view of the different aspects involved in oncological clinical research.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
As trainee you will be involved in and learn about:
  • Data Collection: Gather and compile data from various sources, including clinical trials, research studies, or healthcare databases.
  • Data Cleaning and Preparation: Clean and preprocess raw data to ensure it is accurate, consistent, and ready for analysis. This may involve handling missing values, outliers, and data formatting issues.
  • Data Analysis: Assist in conducting statistical analysis and data modeling to extract meaningful insights from the collected data. This could involve using tools like R, Python, or specialized analytics software.
  • Report Generation: Help create reports and dashboards to visualize and communicate findings to stakeholders, such as project managers or clients.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and integrity of data by conducting data validation checks and data quality assessments.
  • Data Documentation: Maintain detailed records of data sources, data transformation processes, and analysis methods for transparency and reproducibility.
  • Support Research Projects: Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and project teams to provide data-related support for clinical trials or research studies.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Adhere to data privacy and security regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and company policies to protect sensitive data.
  • Learning and Development: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging tools and techniques in data analytics through training and self-study.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate findings, insights, and progress to team members and supervisors.
  • Problem-Solving: Assist in identifying and solving data-related challenges and issues that arise during projects.
  • Software and Tools: Become proficient in using data analytics tools and software commonly used in the CRO industry, such as R, RStudio, SAS, SPSS, Excel, or specific clinical data management systems.
  • Documentation of Processes: Create and maintain documentation of data analysis processes, workflows, and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and suggest enhancements to data collection and analysis procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all data-related activities are compliant with relevant regulatory guidelines and industry standards.
  • Protect information from unauthorised use or access and notify the Information Security Officer and the Management System Officer in the event of such unauthorised access or use.
  • Abide by the internal regulations, raise concerns and breaches related to compliance obligations, and collaborate with Ethics & Compliance as required.
  • Participate in scheduled company trainings.
