Job summary

Global Ports Holding Ltd (GPH) is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Barcelona finance team. This role oversees billing, AR/AP, general ledger, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Spanish tax rules.

You will support month-end and year-end closes, budgets, cash flow, and VAT filings, liaising with tax authorities and external advisors. Fluency in Spanish and English, plus strong accounting and ERP experience, are essential in our fast-paced, international environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, audit, or controlling roles.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Experience with month-end/year-end closing and preparation of financial statements.
• Knowledge of VAT and corporate tax processes in Spain.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software, preferably SAGE.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily finance and accounting operations, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger processes.
• Maintain accurate company accounting records and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
• Coordinate management reporting, regulatory reporting, and VAT declarations.
• Prepare corporate tax and VAT filings and maintain communication with Spanish tax authorities and external tax advisors.
• Ensure compliance with all government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Support audits and provide required financial documentation and analysis.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures, financial processes, and internal control systems.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support business operations and financial accuracy.
• Support the Finance Director in ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function.
• Assist with implementation and optimization of accounting systems and reporting tools.
• Participate in finance-related projects as required.
