Amentum is seeking a Baker to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The Baker will prepare bakery products following standardized recipes, maintain food safety, and support daily food service operations.

The role requires at least 1 year of baking experience, ServSafe certification, ability to read recipes, and readiness to travel. Work at BIOT deployment involves safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, with shifts including evenings or weekends and the need for strong English

• Accurately measure, weigh, and adjust ingredients to ensure recipe accuracy and product quality.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation at workstations and storage areas.
• Record daily production quantities and waste for inventory control and reporting.
• Assist with inventory management and rotation of stock using FIFO practices.

Amentum is seeking aBakerto support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Baker will be responsible for preparing a variety of bakery products in accordance with standardized recipes while ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and sanitation. This position supports daily food service operations by producing fresh baked goods, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and assisting with bakery operations to ensure efficient and consistent service.

Job Responsibilities:

• Prepare breads, pastries, desserts, and other bakery products according to standardized recipes and established production schedules.
• Ensure all bakery items are consistently prepared to meet quality, presentation, and food safety standards.
• Accurately measure, weight, and adjust ingredients to ensure recipe consistency and product quality.
• Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean, organized, and sanitized throughout each shift.
• Record daily production quantities and food waste to support inventory control and operational reporting.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and maintain required documentation.
• Ensure bakery production is completed to support the next shift and maintain uninterrupted food services operations.
• Assist with inventory management by properly storing ingredients and rotating stock using first in, first out practices.
• Provide direction and support to bakery staff in the absence of the head baker.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of baking experience in a full service, commercial, or institutional food service environment.
• Current ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety certification required.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow standardized recipes.
• Strong English communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, supervisors, and team members.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
• Ability to obtain country‑specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in an austereOCONUS (Outside the Continental United States)environment with a multi-national workforce
• A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. Valid country driver’s license. and passport.
• Experience working multiple food service stations, including grill and general food preparation.
• Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
