Amentum is seeking an Automotive Painter to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. This full-time, on-site role requires painting, surface prep, and adherence to strict safety standards in a remote overseas environment.

You will inspect surfaces, mask areas, and coordinate with safety procedures, PPE usage, and international travel readiness. The position demands English proficiency, a high school diploma, and the ability to obtain visas and medical clearances as required.

Formación

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years recent experience in maintenance, water blasting, sand blasting, bead blasting, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment.
  • Must have normal color vision.
  • PFT and Respirator Fit test may be required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
  • Passport should be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Responsabilidades

  • Coats surfaces of contract units with primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices.
  • Removes old paint using liquid paint remover and scraper or plastic/sand media blasting techniques.
  • Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface and provides corrosion control methods to customer specifications.
  • Masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted.
  • Paints insignia, letters or numerals on vehicle surface, using stencils.
  • Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct.
  • The role demands consistent, proper use of PPE, proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Three (3) years recent experience in the maintenance, water blasting, sand blasting, bead blasting, overhaul and painting/depainting of contract unit equipment is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills.
  • Valid country driver's license.
Physical Requirements

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
