Airbus Defence and Space SAU in Getafe, Madrid, seeks an Aircraft Performance Engineer to join the Aircraft Performance Team within the Flight Physics Centre of Competence. You will deliver performance dossiers across fixed-wing programs, support design phases and in-service operations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive digitalization and standardization.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and at least 3 years of experience in aircraft

Formación

  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Aircraft Performance.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Languages: English and Spanish; German a plus.
  • Experience with flight data analysis and performance evaluation.

Responsabilidades

  • Leading Aircraft Performance Activities: Accountable for performance deliverables supporting current and future programs, R&D/T projects, certification processes, and direct negotiations with certification authorities.
  • Supporting Design & Aircraft Evaluation: Contributing to the design phase of future programs and derivatives, as well as evaluating the performance impact of aircraft and engine configuration changes.
  • Providing Commercial & Operational Support: Carrying out performance studies for sales campaigns, RFPs, customer queries, and supporting flight operations (tools, documentation, computerized operating data, and in-service technical support).
  • Analyzing Flight Data & Strategic Roadmaps: Supporting flight data analysis for development, certification, training, and incident investigations, while implementing roadmaps for tool harmonization, data management, and digitalization.
  • Ensuring Strategy Implementation & Quality: Delivering high-quality technical dossiers on time, on cost, and on quality (OTOCOQ), driving technology roadmaps, and expanding the service portfolio.
  • Fostering Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Contributing to team synergies, continuous process improvements, and maintaining strong cross-functional communication with internal and external stakeholders.

An opportunity for an Aircraft Performance Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Aircraft Performance Team within the Flight Physics Centre of Competence (CoC), a German-Spanish organisation responsible for flight physics deliverables across all fixed-wing aircraft programmes. The domain focuses on tackling current and future air power challenges by driving digitalization, standardization, simplification, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Head of Aircraft Performance, you will be accountable for aircraft performance deliverables for all AD&S fixed-wing programs, supporting both design phases and in-service operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILLS
  • Education: Minimum Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Aircraft Performance (development, flight test, and certification).
  • Soft skills: Strong communication, collaboration, conflict management, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High customer focus, owner mentality, and the ability to think strategically while executing methodically under pressure.
  • Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written and spoken). Nice to have fluency in German.
  • Technical knowledge: Expertise in flight data analysis, aircraft & engine performance evaluation, certification processes, and digital tools for flight operations.
  • Valuable / Nice to have: Passion for continuous improvement, willingness to roll-up sleeves and adapt to dynamic environments, and willingness to travel as required.
