Airbus Defence and Space SAU is seeking an experienced Airborne Electronic Hardware Developer to join the A/C & Mission System Integration Rigs domain in Getafe. You will contribute to the full life-cycle of airborne electronic products, collaborating with hardware, firmware, and certification teams.

The role requires extensive DO-254 and Environmental Qualification expertise, FPGA-based design, and a strong background in aerospace standards and safety-critical environments.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in equipment development for airborne systems within aerospace, defence, industrial, or high-reliability sectors.
  • 5+ years of experience in DO-254 Certification and Environmental Qualification.
  • Strong expertise in system, equipment validation and verification; safety-critical development environments.

Responsabilidades

  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and airborne standards DO-254 and DO-160.
  • Prepare technical documentation aligned with aerospace development and certification processes.
  • Support hardware and firmware validation, verification, integration, qualification and environmental testing campaigns.
  • Define equipment, hardware and firmware requirements and ensure system level requirements allocation.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware developers, systems designers and certification authorities.

Job Description: A vacancy has arisen for an Airborne Electronic Hardware Developer, inside the A/C & Mission System Integration Rigs domain, withing Airbus Defence and Space Air Power Engineering in Getafe. The successful applicant will join the A/C & Mission System Integration Rigs domain, belonging to the Flight and Integration Test Centre of Competence. The domain is composed of around 100 employees located in Getafe, Manching and Bremen. We are looking for an experienced and motivated engineer with a passion for advanced digital systems and aerospace technologies. The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team, in charge of the full life-cycle of the Design and Build of Airborne Electronic products and solutions.

The main activities of an Airborne Electronic Hardware Developer are
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace and airborne standards DO-254 and DO-160
  • Prepare technical documentation aligned with aerospace development and certification processes
  • Support equipment, hardware and firmware validation and verification, integration, qualification and environmental testing campaigns
  • Define equipment, hardware and firmware requirements and ensure system level requirements allocation
  • Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware developers, systems designers and certification responsible authorities
  • Participate in technical reviews, with internal customer teams (Design Offices, Chief Engineering and Program Offices) or external Certification/Qualification authorities (INTA, EASA)
  • Review component selection considering reliability, obsolescence, thermal, and environmental constraints
  • Management of supplier work packages for the design, manufacturing and validation and verification activities during prototype and production phases
Associated competencies to main activities are:
  • Electronic Hardware Design DO-254 Certification Environmental Qualification RTCA DO-160
  • Requirements Engineering Development of Control Systems and equipment
Required Competences & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in equipment development for airborne systems within aerospace, defence, industrial, or high-reliability sectors
  • 5+ years of experience in DO-254 Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental Qualification
  • Strong expertise in: DO-254 Certification Environmental Qualification Validation and Verification Process Assurance Safety critical analysis Proven experience in system, equipment validation and verification Strong understanding of safety-critical development environments Previous experience in aerospace, avionics, UAV, or defence programs Knowledge of certification processes and airborne compliance standards (DO-254, DO-160, MIL-STD environments)
  • Experience with FPGA-based systems and RF electronics Exposure to full product lifecycle development from concept to certification and production Professional working proficiency in English
Desired Competencies & Skills:
  • Knowledge in: FPGAs Digital and analogic electronics High-speed design Signal and power integrity Embedded architectures EMI/EMC considerations Knowledge in tools such as Vivado, Mathworks Simulink, Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, or similar.
  • Knowledge in programming languages as VHDL, C, C++ or similar.
  • Knowledge in aerospace communication protocols and interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, ARINC or similar avionics interfaces)
