Allianz Technology is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join a pioneering AI-led software transformation. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, and business experts to design scalable, production-ready AI-enabled platforms that power Allianz’s financial services.

• 5+ years of software development with Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Java.
• Experience with AI tech: LLMs, RAG, embeddings, evaluation.
• Knowledge of Spec-Driven/Contract-First Development (OpenAPI/JSON Schema).
• Cloud expertise (Azure/AWS/OCI) with CI/CD, containers, automation.

About the Job

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will join a highly innovative team that is redefining how enterprise software is built. Leveraging AI-first engineering practices, agentic workflows, and Spec-Driven Development (SDD), you will help design and deliver the next generation of intelligent platforms that combine business expertise, modern architecture, and AI-powered development.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, and large-scale business transformation. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, and business experts to create scalable, secure, and production-ready solutions that deliver measurable value across Allianz's global finance landscape.

What You Will Do

• Co-lead discovery sessions with BMP Finance product owners, architects, and business stakeholders across different lines of business to translate business processes, pain points, and constraints into solution requirements and success criteria, shareable beyond a technical audience.
• Evolve the traditional senior software development practice by leveraging Allianz Technology's internal AI agents and orchestrators, moving delivery from hand-written code toward a Spec-Driven Development (SDD) approach where specifications drive agent-generated, validated, production-ready solutions.
• Design solutions end to end, from the business problem to the target architecture, and write that design down as clear, precise specifications: domain models, interface and event contracts, data schemas, decision logic, and policies. Those specs are the single source of truth the AI agents work from to generate, validate, test, and document the solution.
• Deliver end-to-end solutions across backend and frontend: services, APIs, and data layers on the backend, and configuration and product-facing user interfaces on the frontend, both driven from the same specifications and produced together with AI agents.
• Iterate on the AI agents, prompts, specs, tools, and guardrails, using evaluation sets, quality metrics, and feedback from real delivery, so every cycle raises the accuracy, reliability, and impact of what the agents collaboratively create.
• Write high-quality, well-documented, testable specifications and code, the senior engineer's core craft, now produced and validated in close collaboration with AI agents rather than solely by hand.
• Participate in code/spec reviews, testing, demoing, and debugging to ensure high-quality delivery, and conduct feasibility and effort estimation of new developments from early sprints.

What you bring

• 5+ years of software development experience with strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or similar technologies, applying solid software engineering practices and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Hands-on experience with AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG architectures, embeddings, prompt engineering, and evaluation techniques.
• Practical knowledge of Spec-Driven / Contract-First Development (OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, JSON Schema, protobuf, or similar standards).
• Strong cloud expertise (Azure, AWS, or OCI), including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation, and observability practices.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and enterprise design principles, including API-First design, Hexagonal Architecture, Event-Driven Architectures (Kafka), and system integrations.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and selecting appropriate data solutions based on business needs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex business or regulatory requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English (B2+), with experience working in agile, cross-functional teams and coordinating with engineers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience applying Spec-Driven Development to AI systems and automated AI validation pipelines.
• Knowledge of financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks such as DORA, EU AI Act, or GDPR.
• Experience in international software development environments and exposure to both frontend and backend technology ecosystems.
