Job summary

n8n is an open workflow orchestration platform building AI-native finance processes. We are seeking a hands-on Accountant to own core accounting ops, leveraging AI and automation to scale and improve accuracy across multi‑entity international finance.

You’ll report to Head of Accounting & Tax and shape our lean accounting function from day one. You will manage end-to-end routines, validate AI outputs, and collaborate with FP&A to ensure timely month-end close, strong controls, and clear

Your main goal will be to help build a lean, AI-native accounting function at n8n, owning core accounting operations while using automation and AI to make our processes smarter, faster, and more scalable.

You’ll report to our Head of Accounting & Tax, working alongside an experienced team where you’ll have real ownership from day one and the opportunity to expand into new areas as we grow.

Here’s how you'll make an impact:

Own Procure-to-Pay & Expense Operations

• Manage the end-to-end P2P process in Ramp, from invoice intake and coding to approval follow-ups and biweekly AP payments, ensuring strong controls.
• Improve AI-assisted coding, automation rules, and exception handling to reduce manual work and keep transactions accurate.
• Support colleagues with expenses, reimbursements, and corporate card questions, resolving issues efficiently.

Deliver Accurate Accounting & Month-End Close

• Own assigned OPEX, card spend, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Partner with FP&A to ensure accurate GL and cost-center coding, timely financial information, and a reliable month-end close.
• Maintain clear accounting records, support audit requests, and document processes to ensure continuity and effective controls.

Build an AI-Native Accounting Function

• Use n8n, AI tools, and modern accounting platforms to identify opportunities for automation and continuously improve workflows.
• Validate AI-generated outputs, prioritize human review where risks are highest, and maintain reliable evidence for stakeholders, regulators, and auditors.
• Help scale accounting processes across our growing multi-entity business, with opportunities to broaden your expertise into AR and revenue accounting over time.

REQUIREMENTS

Must-haves

• Hands‑on accounting experience: You have practical GL and AP/P2P experience, with solid fundamentals in journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
• Accounting standards & VAT: You have working knowledge of HGB or IFRS, understand invoice requirements and VAT fundamentals, and know when to seek expert guidance.
• AI & automation mindset: You're excited to experiment with AI, build better workflows, and learn how to validate automated outputs rather than simply execute transactions.
• Systems & spreadsheet skills: You're confident using spreadsheets and accounting systems, with strong attention to coding accuracy, data quality, and financial controls.
• Ownership & reliability: You take responsibility for daily operations, follow through on commitments, and proactively identify ways to improve how things work.
• Clear communication: You communicate effectively in English, collaborate well across teams, and enjoy helping colleagues solve operational challenges.

Nice-to-haves

• Modern finance tools: You've worked with AI-native ERPs, Ramp or similar P2P platforms, Q2C tools, or workflow automation platforms like n8n.
• International accounting: You have experience working across multiple entities, ideally in a global business with an expanding international footprint.
• SaaS & revenue accounting: You're familiar with SaaS business models, multi‑currency accounting, AR, or revenue recognition.
• Audit & qualifications: You bring an audit background or relevant accounting qualifications that strengthen your accounting expertise.
• German language skills: You can communicate in German, although this is not required for the role.
