Job summary

The Institute for Applied Computing and Community Code (IAC3) at Universitat de les Illes Balears in Spain invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in computational relativistic astrophysics and numerical relativity. The successful candidate will contribute to our research program and work under PI Carlos Palenzuela Luque.

Applicants should have experience with computational models, relativistic MHD, and neutrino transport modelling, and strong English and Spanish skills.

The successful candidate will contribute to our research in computational relativistic astrophysics and
numerical relativity.

Skills in programming languages, numerical methods, relativistic magnetohydrodynamics and neutrino
transport modelling.

Language requirements: Particular consideration will be given to candidates with solid oral and written skills in English and Spanish.

Prior experience: Experience with computational models and relativistic magnetohydrodynamics linked to neutron star collisions.

Eligibility criteria

• Qualifications in the specialised area (max. 20 points)
• Accomplishments in the field (max. 40 points), such as research, innovation and knowledge transfer,
  teaching, professional accreditations, supplementary training, awards, etc.
• Video CV and, where applicable, a personal interview (max. 20 points)
• Experience in the field (max. 15 points), e.g.: > 3 years (10 points), < 3 years (5 points)
• Other merits (max. 5 points), e.g. qualifications not linked to the specialised area, letters of reference, etc.

Eligibility threshold: 60 points.

Candidates who hold the qualification corresponding to the required category in the job offer with a non-EU degree, if selected, must present a certificate of equivalence of their non-EU qualification to a European qualification, or proof of having applied for this equivalence, in order to proceed with their hiring. Selection process

In accordance with article 8 of the REGULATORY AGREEMENT 145140 of 15th June 2022 that approves the regulation governing the recruitment of research staff under chapter 6 allocation of the university budget, as well as technical or operational research staff.

Selection comitee

1. i. The relevant Pro-Vice-Chancellor for research (or delegated representative) as chair.
2. ii. The supervisor (or delegated representative).
3. iii. The members of the Research Area Assessment Committee (CARAI).
4. iv. One or more expert members in the topic pertaining to the recruitment and chosen by the chair of the committee, where applicable.
5. v. The head of FORHU (or delegated representative), as secretary, who may speak but not vote.
