‘OKU’ is derived from the Japanese concept meaning ‘inner space’. OKU Hotels is a boutique collection of soulfully-curated, laid-back luxury hotels, designed for the modern traveler. Our sanctuaries focus on barefoot luxury, local connections, and slow living.

Headquartered in London, OKU Hotels currently operates in Ibiza and Kos, with plans to expand to Turkey, Spain, and the Maldives. Our goal is to own and operate over ten exquisite properties worldwide in the next five years.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE

  • Ensure the bar is fully stocked with beverages, ice, glassware, garnishes, and supplies promptly and accurately, maintaining high standards.
  • Assist bartenders in preparing drinks by fetching ingredients and preparing basic mixes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, adhering to food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Replenish ice wells, restock refrigerators, and ensure adequate clean glassware availability during service.
  • Assist in receiving and storing beverage deliveries.
  • Clear empty glasses and bottles, ensuring a clean guest area.
  • Collaborate with bartenders and service team for smooth operation.
  • Help set up and break down the bar before and after service.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Previous experience as a barback or support role preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in English or Spanish; additional languages are a plus.

  • Ability to work under pressure and stay composed during busy periods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in anticipating needs and shortages.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations relevant to bar operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Experience with bar equipment is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of beverage storage and handling.
