The Projects

Central West Orana

Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd is part of a consortium including Cobra and Endeavour Energy that have entered a commitment deed with EnergyCo as preferred network operator for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). This will be serviced by new transmission network infrastructure, including transmission lines and energy hubs, which will transfer power generated by solar and wind farms to electricity consumers.

HumeLink East

Acciona Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Genus Infrastructure (NSW) Pty Ltd have been engaged by Transgrid to deliver the eastern portion of the HumeLink project. HumeLink East involves the expansion of the existing Bannaby 500 kV substation, along with the design and construction of a new 500 kV double circuit transmission line transmission line will connect the Bannaby 500 kV substation at the Wondalga interface point with HumeLink West.

Role Overview

The Overhead Transmission Linesperson Assistant (B3) provides skilled support in the safe and efficient construction and maintenance of overhead transmission lines. This role involves rigging, manual handling, equipment preparation, and supervised assistance on line works. It requires strong safety awareness and the ability to work effectively within a project team in site-based rostered arrangements.

Key Duties

• Support the safe and efficient installation, maintenance and repair of overhead transmission conductors and hardware.
• Undertake ground‑based assembly of tools, equipment and components for installation.
• Perform tasks including cable pulling, lifting and positioning hardware.
• Act as a spotter for plant/equipment operations.
• Assist in site set‑up, barricading, and safety checks.
• Carry out housekeeping and general labouring duties as directed.
• Maintain a safe work area and comply with project procedures at all times.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated experience in transmission line construction, maintenance or utilities industry.
• Previous exposure to working with overhead transmission hardware, crossarms, or similar electrical infrastructure.
• Experience working safely in high‑risk construction environments.
• Ability to operate elevated work platforms, truck/tractor winches, and related site equipment.
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card (or ability to obtain).
• Current National Police Clearance.
• Ability to travel to other depots or worksites to complete project work as required.

Highly Desirable

• Advanced Rigging accreditation (High Risk Work Licence).
• Cert II or III ESI Transmission.
• CPR and First Aid Certificate.
• HRWL for EWP, Safe Working at Heights, Tower Rescue.

Camp Accommodation

• Central West Orana: Camp accommodation will be provided at Merotherie, NSW, with extensive facilities including mess halls, gym, recreation areas, and onsite convenience store.
• HumeLink East: Camp accommodation will be provided in Yass and Adjungbilly, with facilities including gym, mess halls, laundry, and wellness support.

Rosters

Rosters will vary depending on project requirements. Candidates should be willing to work on swing‑style roster arrangements that may include extended periods on site followed by periods of leave.
