Head of Research & Technology

Job Purpose

To design, develop, validate, Troubleshoot and Change Decorative, PC, Industrial coatings along with experience in handling an action-packed team of 7-10 members leading them excellence in Execution. Develop Quality systems, control and assurance for products manufactured in the plant and create RCA/CAPA for complaints in manufactured/outsourced products.

Business Responsibility Areas

1. Development products with high performance & long durability for GCC climates. Create Technical capabilities for r products development with rigor.

2. Create differentiated product offering in Luxury & Premium segment using Latest technology and new age RM. Build technical capabilities in the unit through constant interaction and training to team.

3. PC- Basis totally different surface across high temperate and extreme tropical climates C4 to C5, create products without issues on sagging, drying and peel off across climates.

4. Ensure competitive edge and TMC is a challenge in UAE since we are not leader in the region.

5. Benchmark competition product offer and create a USP/Differentiated offer for market.

8. Short term and long-term testing support to developed products to ensure performance against Promise.

9. Create a roadmap for next 2 – 3 years along with marketing on key portfolio for UAE.

10. Work with central supply chain/Technology to ensure sufficient pipeline of raw materials to allow consistent and cost-effective products.

Key Performance Indicators

1. Working knowledge on Interior and Exterior emulsion, PC & Industrial product development knowing varying climate conditions.

2. Keen to look out for new technologies/new RM and keep updated on the industry development.

2. Having working and commercial knowledge on RM that are available internationally.

3. Excellent communication and presentation skills.

4. Knowledge on generic formulations used in paints & coating. Formulation knowledge of tinting system. Ability to create work program for R&D based on market requirement with clear priorities.

5. Knowledge on National and International standards relevant to Paints & Coating

6. Quick learner in understanding varying practice of surface preparation/paint application across UAE

7. Knowledge on failure mode of Paint/color system across climates and remedial action.
