Job summary

DTU Electro invites applications for a Tenure Track Researcher in Photonic Integrated Circuits for Optical Communications. You will develop energy-efficient chip-based communication systems, including microcomb light sources, optical modulators and switches, and passive components, while exploring new materials and processes in DTU Nanolab.

Qualifications

  • PhD in physics, optics, material science or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of solid-state physics and its consequences for on-chip optical devices.
  • Experience with cleanroom processes such as lithography, thin film deposition and etching (wet, dry).
  • Extensive cleanroom experience including lithography (electron beam, UV), dry etching (ion beam, RIE), thin film deposition (PECVD, LPCVD, sputtering, evaporation).
  • Experience with the characterization of chip-based optical components and with optical simulation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and fabricate novel, energy-efficient optical components at DTU Nanolab.
  • Characterize optical chip-based components.
  • Contribute to projects through design, simulation, fabrication, lab characterization and performance evaluation.
  • Publish in scientific journals and present at international conferences.
  • Attract external funding and build academic and industrial collaborations.
  • Teach and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students in cleanroom fabrication, optical simulation and characterization.
