Job summary

Aalborg University is seeking a student helper for Rapid Control Prototyping and Laboratory Testing. The role supports VRE2H2 and GreenMag projects with hands-on experiments, data analysis, and software development in a lab environment.

The position starts October 1, 2026 or as soon as possible and ends June 30, 2027, with employment under the university's student instructor agreement. Diversity and safety are emphasized in the workplace.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge on power systems, power electronics and control.
  • Knowledge and/or working experience with MATLAB Simulink and PLECS.
  • Experience in Python programming including development, testing, and automation tasks.
  • Working experience with thermal cameras including data acquisition and communication protocols.
  • Experience in data analysis using relevant tools for processing, visualization, and interpretation.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and verification of converter control algorithms with grid forming capabilities on dSpace platform.
  • Support on development of PLC-based control setups.
  • Software development and laboratory based experimental work for integration of digital tools into the winding manufacturing process.

Job description

Student helper for Rapid Control Prototyping and Laboratory Testing

AAU Energy is looking for a student helper for Rapid Control Prototyping and Laboratory Testing. The position is from October 1st 2026 or as soon as possible hereafter and ends on June 30th 2027.

The position requires:

  • knowledge on power systems, power electronics and control
  • knowledge and/or working experience with Matlab Simulink and PLECS
  • experience in Python programming, including development, testing, and automation tasks.
  • working experience with thermal cameras, including data acquisition and communication protocols.
  • experience in data analysis using relevant tools for processing, visualization, and interpretation

The student helper will support specific activities in VRE2H2 and GreenMag projects. The following tasks are expected:

  • implementation and verification of converter control algorithms with grid forming capabilities on dSpace platform
  • support on development of PLC-based control setups
  • software development and laboratory based experimental work for integration of digital tools into the winding manufacturing process.

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable Collective Agreement for Student Instructors at Universities etc. (Official title: Overenskomst for studenterundervisere ved universiteter mv.). Employment is conditional upon being a student.
