Job summary

Ultrabulk is seeking a Student Assistant to join the Fleet Efficiency & Decarbonisation team in Copenhagen. You will help build and maintain internal data and web applications using Python back-end, PostgreSQL, web front-end, and automated tests deployed on Microsoft Azure.

Your tasks align with your study schedule and experience. You will develop, test, and maintain tools for fleet performance, write SQL queries, improve front-end UX, and collaborate with developers.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with at least one year left.
• Solid programming skills in Python and working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git and collaborative workflows; familiarity with Docker or a cloud platform is a plus.
• Interest in AI / LLM APIs and willingness to learn in a rapid, industry setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain internal tools and applications supporting fleet performance and decarbonisation.
• Build and improve back-end services and REST APIs in Python.
• Write SQL queries, database migrations and data checks in PostgreSQL.
• Improve the web front-end and user experience, ensuring code quality and portability.

What you will do...

As our new Student Assistant working out of our Copenhagen office, you will join the Fleet Efficiency & Decarbonisation team. You will help build and maintain the team’s internal data and web applications: Python back-end, PostgreSQL database, web front-end and automated tests, AI assistants, deployed on Microsoft Azure. Your tasks are matched to your experience and your study schedule.

Among other interesting tasks, you will:

• Develop, test, and maintain internal tools and applications that support fleet performance and decarbonisation
• Build and improve back-end services and REST APIs in Python
• Write SQL queries, database migrations and data checks in PostgreSQL
• Improve the web front-end and the user experience
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and portability
• Collaborate closely with domain experts and fellow developers

We offer aflexible working week of 2-3 days, with more hours required during holiday periods and fewer hours during your exam periods.

We furthermore expect that you…

• Are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s programme in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with at least one year of studies left
• Have solid programming skills in Python
• Have working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MSSQL)
• Have experience with version control (Git) and a collaborative workflow
• Ideally, but not necessarily, have worked with a Python web framework (e.g. FastAPI, Django), Docker, or a cloud platform (e.g. Azure)
• Are interested in learning AI / LLM APIs
• Are fluent in English (written and spoken), as this is our corporate language. Danish is not a requirement.
• Hold a permit allowing you to live and work onsite in Denmark.
