Job summary

Unity is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to guide the architecture and low-level design of distributed systems powering one of the world's largest real-time advertising platforms. You will own and operate infrastructure services with on-call responsibilities across multiple cloud providers, enabling scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Backend service and infrastructure development experience.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud-native systems experience (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• Expertise in distributed infrastructure including traffic management and data processing.
• Strong networking, observability, and end-to-end debugging of distributed systems.
• Experience with distributed caching or storage for low-latency workloads.
• Experience with Kubernetes CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD.
• Expertise in protocols, routing, and service discovery at scale.
• Domain knowledge of online advertising and adtech is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills.

Opportunity

The Ads Infrastructure team at Unity builds and operates the core distributed systems that power one of the largest real‑time advertising platforms in the world. Our infrastructure underpins every part of Unity Ads, providing the foundation for segmentation, optimization, bidding, and analytics at global scale. We focus on resilient, scalable, and cost‑efficient systems built on technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Flink, Valkey, and support developers, data scientists, and product teams that drive Unity Ads forward.

Responsibilities

• Guide the architecture and low‑level design of distributed systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Own and operate infrastructure services with engineering teams, including on‑call responsibilities and deep debugging of complex issues.
• Support engineering teams onboarding and usage of platform‑managed services.
• Drive operational excellence through improved observability, resiliency, and automation.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

• 7 or more years of experience building and operating large‑scale distributed systems in production.
• Programming experience for backend service and infrastructure development.
• Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and cloud‑native systems in GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Expertise in distributed infrastructure including traffic management, load balancing, networking, and large‑scale data processing.
• Deep understanding of networking, observability, and debugging distributed systems end‑to‑end.
• Deep expertise in distributed caching or storage systems used to support large‑scale, low‑latency workloads.
• Experience with Kubernetes CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD.
• Expertise in protocols, routing, and service discovery in large‑scale environments.
• Domain knowledge of online advertising and adtech systems is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills for professional verbal and written exchanges.

Additional Information

Relocation support is not available for this position. Work visa/immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Total Base Pay Range 916,100.00 – 1,145,100.00 DKK Annually. This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate’s relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
