Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Windows desktop engineer to define architecture and drive the Windows platform from conception to release. You’ll use Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML and may touch C++ to deliver robust, accessible applications used by millions.

Collaborate with product designers, QA and data scientists, mentor engineers, and own features end-to-end while ensuring performance, reliability and cross-version compatibility across Windows 10/11+.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop development with Windows App SDK/WinUI and C#, XAML.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record shipping production Windows desktop apps with reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs (UI Automation) and inclusive design.
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, and multi-threading.
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and making architecture-level decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration across product, design, QA, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps.
• Define best practices for code architecture, performance, and cross-version compatibility.
• Advance accessibility across UI controls, keyboard navigation, and screen readers.
• Collaborate with designers, UX researchers, QA, and others for roadmap and UI/UX decisions.
• Own features end-to-end from conception to release and maintenance.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory issues, and rendering problems.
