Job summary

C Cisco is seeking a Technical Writer to create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Isovalent Enterprise Platform and Hypershield. You’ll produce developer and user guides, tutorials, and reference materials, ensuring first-class documentation for Kubernetes networking products.

You will collaborate with engineering, solution architects, marketing, product management and release teams, while also guiding best practices for documentation within the community and company.

Job description

The Technical Writer is responsible for creating, updating and maintaining Isovalent Enterprise Platform and Hypershield documentation as a whole, the main part of it being developer and user documentation. You will be at the forefront of our users' experience for both open-source Cilium and our enterprise offerings, making the most technically advanced Kubernetes networking product on the market accessible through first-class documentation. The Technical Writer works closely with multiple teams: engineering, solution architects, marketing, product management, release management, and community. The documentation covers initial concepts of technology and product, getting started guides, tutorials, reference documentation, operational guides, as well as best practices.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to all technical documentation efforts for Isovalent's Cilium distribution and Hypershield, including operational documentation, training, and guides.
• Work closely with engineering and solution architects to create high-quality technical content.
• Conduct reviews and surveys with customers to understand how documentation and the information architecture can be improved.
• Share knowledge on documentation & developer content best practices with maintainers, the product development team and the community as a whole, building a culture of documentation in the community and at the company.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Technical writer for Enterprise products
• Experienced in networking, security, and Cloud Native technologies.
• Experienced in writing user guides, documentation and helping enterprise users

Preferred Qualifications

• Passion for writing high-quality technical content.
• Hands on experience with documentation frameworks such as Sphinx, Hugo or ReadTheDocs is highly preferred.
• Experience in GitHub and Git revision management
• Experience with leading user research to improve documentation is a plus
• Collaboration with engineering peers to jointly convert knowledge from a subject matter experts to high-quality documentation
• Understanding of markdown and restructured text.
• Excellent writing skills in English.
