Portchain seeks a Senior Software Engineer (backend) with deep Node.js and TypeScript experience to build services, APIs, and integrations powering maritime workflows. You will own features from design through production and work in autonomous product teams.
The stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud, with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Datadog supporting deployment, observability, and reliability.
Portchain exists to make maritime shipping more predictable, efficient, and green. We help shipping companies and terminals coordinate around shared, trustworthy information to reduce delays, fuel consumption, and emissions.
Our products support some of the world’s largest shipping companies, with more than 200 terminals connected through the Portchain Network.
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep backend experience in Node.js and TypeScript.
You’ll build services, APIs, and integrations that power carrier and terminal workflows, berth planning, and new products. Working closely with Product, you’ll turn customer problems into simple, scalable solutions and own your work from design through production.
Our stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud, with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Datadog.
We work in autonomous product teams of four or more engineers, each supported by a dedicated Product Manager. We deploy several times a day and take responsibility for running and improving what we build.
We care about craftsmanship: understandable code, trustworthy data, thoughtful user experiences, and systems that remain reliable and maintainable. We balance that care with pragmatic decisions and learning through frequent releases.
Curiosity matters here. We ask questions, explore customer problems, challenge assumptions, and learn from each other and from mistakes without blame.
AI is a core part of our engineering workflow. We use it for exploration, implementation, review, and technical sparring, and share useful practices with the team.
The final judgment remains with the engineer. We expect you to understand, review, validate, and be able to defend the code and decisions you ship, while protecting customer and company data.
GCP/Cloud Run, Terraform, CI/CD and observability, complex data ingestion, ISO 27001 or SOC 2 experience, and breadth across languages or technical side projects.
