Job summary

Danish Technological Institute in Aarhus seeks a motivated researcher to join our Industrial 3D Print team, driving R&D projects in 3D printing for industrial applications and collaborating with partners from industry and academia.

You will manage projects, contribute to design optimization, and translate research outcomes into commercial services. You will build strong relationships across teams and with external partners, while supporting growth and knowledge transfer.

Qualifications

Job description

Join one of Europe’s leading knowledge centres for industrial 3D printing at Danish Technological Institute in Aarhus. We are expanding rapidly and are therefore looking for our new colleague who is motivated working with 3D printing in research and development projects.

3D printing in research and development projects

When you join our R&D team, you will become part of a highly competent group of dedicated 3D print experts. You will join a collaborative team of 12 colleagues, where you can always exchange ideas and get support, and where your contributions help drive the future of industrial 3D printing.

Right from the start, you will be involved in many of our 3D print‑related projects which are based on the needs and requests from our partner companies. You will also quickly be given responsibility for project activities and project management. Most of your work will involve collaborating with project partners from both industry and universities.

Typical Tasks Will Include
  • Research and development in new applications of industrial 3D Printing
  • Simulation and optimization of complex parts for demanding industries
  • Implementing knowledge and technology from R&D projects for use in commercial services
  • Exploring project opportunities with companies.

Depending on your skills and interests, your technological tasks may vary between, performance simulation, advanced topology optimization, evaluation of material properties, and quality assurance of 3D printed components, etc.

In addition, you will be expected to play an active role in the technological and commercial development of the Institute’s activities in the field of 3D printing.

Technological Experience

You have a master’s degree or PhD in mechanical engineering or related field. Experience with industrial 3D printing would be considered an advantage.

Preferably, you have some experience, but newly graduated applicants are also welcome to apply. Whatever your level of experience, we will ensure that you get a thorough introduction to give you a good start.

You will be responsible for managing projects, so a proactive and accountable approach is essential. We value innovative thinking and encourage you to pursue your own ideas.

You will become part of Danish Technological Institute

Industrial 3D Print is a centre at Danish Technological Institute with 30 highly specialised employees working with the application of 3D printing in industrial settings. We develop and produce advanced products in plastic and metal for drones, fuel cells, satellites, sensors, etc., for a wide range of Danish and international industrial customers. The team’s tasks include a combination of long‑term international development projects and short‑term commercial tasks. Danish Technological Institute has been working with 3D printing since 1989 and is leading in the field of development and production of 3D metal printing.

We constantly push the boundaries of what can be produced using 3D printing to make it more accessible to Danish businesses. We do this by, for example, participating in R&D projects through which we contribute to breaking down the industrial barriers that stand in the way of the acceptance of 3D printing technologies. Typical projects are supported by foundations/programmes such as EUDP, Horizon Europe, Innovation Fund Denmark, etc. Our roles in these are typically project management, development, presentation, testing and pilot production.
