Job summary

Centrica Energy Trading is seeking a Senior Quantitative Developer to help advance pricing and risk models across our global offices. You will contribute to the model library, lead design and testing efforts, and collaborate with traders and originators to deliver robust software solutions.

The role requires strong Python skills, experience with finance models, and a passion for energy markets. Office locations include Aalborg, London, Copenhagen or Antwerp.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in science, computing, mathematics or a quantitative field.
  • Strong Python development experience in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with math/stats libraries and modern build tools.
  • Ability to refactor code and work with legacy systems.
  • Knowledge of OO design, architecture and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with software testing practices (unit/integration; TDD/BDD a plus).
  • DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, containerization) desirable.
  • Familiarity with financial models, derivatives pricing and risk management systems.
  • Interest in Energy/commodity markets and fluent English.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high quality increments to the model library—individually and with the team.
  • Provide leadership in object modelling, interface design, automated testing and performance optimization.
  • Support Trading & Origination on model usage and behavior.
  • Leverage cross-asset expertise to connect locations and increase efficiency.
