Job description

Senior IT/OT Engineer – Manufacturing IT & Automation

Gentofte, Denmark

Help drive digitalisation of pharmaceutical manufacturing

Are you passionate about solving complex technical challenges where IT, automation, and production intersect? Do you thrive in environments where technology plays a vital role in delivering life-changing medicines to patients worldwide? If so, this could be your opportunity to join Novo Nordisk's Manufacturing IT organisation supporting API production in Gentofte.

As a Senior IT/OT Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of critical manufacturing systems. You will work across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT), helping to maintain compliant and efficient production environments while advancing digitalisation initiatives that create lasting business value.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Supporting daily production through advanced troubleshooting, technical investigations, and root cause analysis of complex system issues.
  • Maintaining and optimising manufacturing applications, automation platforms, industrial infrastructure, databases, historians, and system integrations.
  • Driving lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, patching, system improvements, and technology renewals.
  • Supporting validation, qualification, audit readiness, and GMP compliance activities for critical production systems.
  • Identifying opportunities for digitalisation, simplification, and automation that improve performance, reliability, and user experience.

Success in this role requires a strong technical understanding of how production equipment, automation platforms, applications, databases, and infrastructure components work together to support manufacturing operations. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of critical systems and contribute directly to production reliability and operational excellence.

Your new department

You will join a highly skilled Manufacturing IT organisation supporting API production in Gentofte. The department serves as a vital link between manufacturing operations, automation, and information technology, ensuring the reliable operation of systems that support pharmaceutical production.

The team is characterised by strong collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a commitment to continuous improvement. We work in a dynamic and technically advanced environment where curiosity, innovation, and teamwork are essential to success. Together, we support production while driving digital transformation and enabling future manufacturing capabilities.

Your Skills And Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have a degree within Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.

In addition, you bring experience from manufacturing, industrial IT, automation, or other regulated production environments.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in several of the following areas:

  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS), ideally ABB Sattline or comparable automation platforms, as well as PLCs and industrial control systems.
  • Manufacturing applications, SCADA, MES platforms, system integrations, and operational technology environments.
  • Windows Server environments, SQL databases, historians, and industrial data management solutions.
  • Computerised systems lifecycle management, validation activities, change control, and GMP-regulated processes.
  • Advanced troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, and root cause investigations within complex operational environments.

As a person, you are analytical, curious, and motivated by understanding how systems interact. You enjoy solving complex problems and are driven to identify sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes. You communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across disciplines, and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

You take ownership of your work, thrive in dynamic environments, and maintain a strong focus on quality, compliance, and operational excellence. Most importantly, you are motivated by supporting manufacturing operations that ultimately help patients around the world.
