Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager for AI & Data Platform to lead one or more engineering teams delivering scalable data platforms and AI-enabled capabilities. You will drive execution across data engineering, platform development, and agentic AI enablement to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Based in Copenhagen, you will collaborate with Product, SAP, Infrastructure, and Data teams, own delivery outcomes, engineering quality, and platform reliability while promoting DevOps

Qualifications

• 18+ years of experience in technology leadership roles.
• Experience leading engineering teams in data platforms, analytics, or AI domains.
• Experience delivering scalable data and platform solutions in enterprise environments.
• Exposure to AI/ML or agentic AI–enabled use cases.

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join us in this journey.

As a Senior Engineering Manager for AI & Data Platform, you will lead one or more engineering teams responsible for delivering scalable data platforms and AI-enabled capabilities. You will drive execution across data engineering, platform development, and agentic AI enablement, ensuring solutions are aligned to enterprise strategy and deliver measurable business outcomes. The role is accountable for delivery, engineering quality, team capability, and platform reliability rather than purely strategy definition.

Key Responsibilities:

1. AI & Data Platform Delivery

• Lead delivery of data platforms, data products, and AI-enabled applications supporting enterprise use cases
• Enable agentic AI adoption, ensuring data pipelines and platforms support AI-driven workflows and decisioning
• Drive development of integrated data foundations to support end-to-end visibility across systems

2. Data & Analytics Enablement

• Enable democratised data access through governed, queryable data layers (decoupled from operational systems)
• Drive self-service reporting and dashboards, reducing reliance on central teams
• Ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure data foundations for analytics and AI

3. Platform Engineering & Architecture Alignment

• Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, platform, and cloud strategies
• Drive adoption of reusable platform components and engineering standards
• Support integration across SAP and non-SAP ecosystems

4. Engineering Leadership & Team Delivery

• Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams across data, platform, and AI domains
• Own delivery outcomes, quality standards, and engineering practices within teams
• Drive Agile execution, prioritization, and alignment with product and business stakeholders

5. Operational Excellence & Scalability

• Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, reliability, and performance at global scale
• Drive observability, automation, and DevOps practices across platforms
• Establish governance for platform performance, availability, and cost optimization
• Optimize platform cost through efficient architecture, cloud usage, and tooling decisions
• Drive adoption of shared platforms and reusable services to reduce duplication
• Partner with stakeholders to balance cost, speed, and quality in delivery

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate across Product, SAP, Infrastructure, and Data teams beyond direct reporting lines
• Influence decisions impacting enterprise data and AI platforms
• Drive alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities

You are a strategic and execution-focused leader who has successfully driven large-scale platform transformations in complex enterprise environments.

• Strong experience leading engineering teams in data platforms, analytics, or AI domains
• Proven track record delivering scalable data and platform solutions in enterprise environments
• Exposure to AI/ML or agentic AI–enabled use cases
• Strong understanding of data engineering, cloud platforms, and distributed systems
• Demonstrated ability to drive delivery across cross-functional teams
• Strong ownership mindset with focus on outcomes, reliability, and cost

Required Skills/Experience:

• MS or BS in a Computer Science or a science/engineering discipline.
• 18+ years of experience in technology leadership roles
• Experience leading teams as Engineering Manager / Senior Engineering Manager / Director
• Strong experience with data platforms, pipelines, and analytics ecosystems
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern DevOps practices
• Understanding of AI/ML platforms and data requirements for AI use cases
• Strong stakeholder management and execution leadership
