Job summary

Coop Danmark in Albertslund is seeking a Senior Data Scientist for the new Store Partnering team. You will establish a data-driven approach to Coop’s supply chain, turning data into actionable forecasting and planning insights to improve consumer availability across millions daily.

You will lead development of analytics tools, drive ML/AI initiatives in RELEX, and coach analysts, while enabling a data-centric culture across the planning teams.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience with applied ML in production environments.
• Master or PhD in mathematical fields.
• Strong programming in Python and/or R with MLOps experience.
• Experience with feature engineering on demand data (pricing, promotions, events, weather).
• Experience with RELEX or similar planning systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop promotion of quantity estimation methodologies and tooling for faster planning tasks.
• Drive data-driven decision making by empowering store and demand planning with advanced analysis.
• Establish KPI and reporting framework to enable learning from campaigns and operations.

In the role of Senior Data Scientist you will become a central part of the new Store Partnering team. The team will be heavily focused on spearheading a new approach to data centricity in Coop, and as the team is newly formed, you will be highly able to influence ways of working.

About The Position

As a Senior Data Scientist in Coop’s new Store Partnering team, you will have a central responsibility for establishing and developing the data-driven approach to supply chain processes and decisions. Your focus will be on driving the digital agenda forward in Coop’s supply chain, with the aim of improving the quality and efficiency of planning processes. Focus will be on leveraging the vast data landscape available to a large retail organization - turning data into valuable forecasting and planning action. You will work to make technology, data science and AI a pivotal component in how we do planning to unlock efficiencies in planning processes and improvements to consumer availability for millions of consumers every day.

Your Primary Responsibilities

• Tools: Developing promotion of quantity estimation methodologies and related tools. Develop the analytics toolbox that makes campaign and store planning tasks faster to execute.
• Data driven culture and problem solving: Drive the agenda of putting analysis, math and statistics behind every decision by supporting the store and demand planning team with advanced analysis for operational decisions and development initiatives.
• Measurement & Learning: Help establish the KPI and reporting framework, such that continuous development enables and learnings from campaigns and operations can be reused.
• RELEX AI: Driving the ML/AI agenda in Relex and operationalizing relevant large data and AI agent use cases. Includes design, diagnostics, and roadmap development.
• Guidance for analysts and specialists: Coaching and sparring with the cohort of analysts and specialists across supply chain planning.

About You

You have solid experience with complex analysis, and you thrive on translating data into concrete improvements. You are analytically strong, structured, and have a natural ability to collaborate across disciplines. You enjoy continuously developing ways of working and are energized about the opportunity to be part of shaping up a new team with a big organizational focus. You are driven by creating structure and momentum in complex deliverables and thrive at the intersection of business, IT, and operations. You can communicate complex statistical and technical concepts and findings for the broader organization.

We imagine that you have several of the following competencies:

• 4–6 years of experience with applied ML in production environment, preferably within a supply chain or retail context.
• Master or PHD within mathematical fields
• Strong acumen in data science programming language like Python, R or similar data science programming language and experience with MLOps – model versioning, backtesting, and retraining pipelines
• Experienced in feature engineering on demand data, including causal factors such as pricing, promotions, events, and weather
• Able to translate complex models into business value and communicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders
• Has experience with Relex or similar advanced planning systems
