Qualifications

• Solid experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems, backend services, or data platforms in production.
• Strong backend and systems engineering skills, including service design, API design, debugging, and production operations.
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability.
• Experience with data-intensive platforms, including pipelines, streaming systems, storage layers, or analytics infrastructure.
• Awareness of privacy, security, compliance, and cost-efficiency in large-scale environments.

The opportunity Unity is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform to help build and scale the data infrastructure powering our Ads business and Unity Commons, our internal platform that supports teams across Unity. In this role, you will work at the intersection of large-scale distributed systems, data engineering, and platform infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate critical data platform capabilities that enable high-throughput, reliable, and trusted data flows across Unity's advertising ecosystem, while also supporting common internal services used across the company. This is a role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex platform problems, owning meaningful components end to end, and building systems that serve many teams at scale. You will partner closely with engineers, product managers, data scientists, and downstream data consumers to deliver platforms that are resilient, extensible, and easy to adopt.

What you'll be doing

Design, build, and operate scalable platform services, backend systems, and self-service tooling used by users across Unity.

Work across distributed systems, data platform, cloud infrastructure, observability, reliability, and automation.

Collaborate with teammates and partner teams across Unity to deliver reliable, reusable solutions.

Build systems that are reliable, maintainable, secure, cost-efficient, and easy for internal teams to adopt.

What we're looking for

Solid experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems, backend services, or data platforms in production.

Strong backend and systems engineering skills, including service design, API design, debugging, and production operations.

A good understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, and operational trade-offs.

Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability.

You might also have Experience with data-intensive platforms, including pipelines, streaming systems, storage layers, or analytics infrastructure.

Familiarity with privacy, security, compliance, and cost-efficiency considerations in large-scale platform environments.

Experience applying AI or agentic tooling to engineering workflows.

Salary Range DKK800,000 - DKK1,100,000 annually This range reflects the anticipated base salary for this position. Beyond base salary, this role may be eligible for equity awards and participation in our company incentive plans (such as annual discretionary bonuses or sales commissions). The final offer amount will depend on several factors, including geographic location and the candidate's relevant experience, professional background, and skill set.
