Job description

Position Overview

One or more full‑time positions in Mechanical Engineering at the Department of Materials and Production, Aalborg University, Aalborg East Campus. Positions include professor, associate professor, and assistant professor. The starting date is by the end of 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in mechanical engineering, dynamics, control engineering, system integration, robotics, sensors, mechatronics, and advanced actuator design.
• Publish in recognized international venues and engage with the academic community.
• Develop and lead research projects, apply for external funding, and manage research groups.
• Teach Bachelor and Master programmes, supervise students in projects, theses, and PhDs.
• Contribute to curriculum development and course design within mechanical systems.
• Engage actively with industry partners and maintain external collaborations.
• Participate in academic service, study boards, assessment committees, and departmental or faculty bodies.

Qualifications

• Strong background in mechanical engineering with focus on dynamics or a closely related field.
• Experience in designing, building, and validating electro‑mechanical systems.
• Modelling and programming skills combined with hands‑on engineering expertise.
• Professor level: established research leader, substantial publication record, international profile, proven leadership in large projects, and sustained funding portfolio.
• Associate professor level: established scientist, coherent publication record, experience with external funding, and documented teaching experience.
• Assistant professor level: PhD holder, post‑doctoral experience, potential for independent research, early funding experience, and teaching experience.
• Technical skills in mechanical structure design, actuators, sensors, control hardware, control algorithms, and embedded/robotic platforms.
• English language proficiency; Danish language ability or willingness to learn Danish.

Salary and Terms of Employment

Salary and terms comply with Danish collective agreements and ministerial orders. A probationary period of three months applies.
