Job summary

University of Copenhagen's NQCP is seeking a versatile process engineer to develop and characterise solid state materials for quantum computing. Join a hands-on, interdisciplinary team at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen, with opportunities across growth, fabrication, and advanced analytics.

You will develop protocols, standardise methods, and work with colleagues from materials science, nanofabrication, and theory to push quantum hardware and algorithms towards real-worldApplications.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in physics, material science, chemical engineering, or related.
  • +3 years of relevant academic or industrial experience with some of the following techniques.
  • SEM, FIB & TEM.
  • AFM and other surface probe techniques.
  • Nano fabrication.
  • XRD and XPS.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Deep understanding of the properties of materials and their underlying structures.
  • Experience with systems engineering concepts, scripting for automation and data logging.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate the work in a complex research program.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and characterise solid state materials for quantum computing.
  • Develop, run and automize characterization protocols.
  • Standardise methods for reliable metrics extraction.
  • Collaborate with materials growth, nano fabrication, various characterization techniques, and theory & simulation, plus international partners.
